“Yep. Brought a friend with me.”

I wait for him to give me that look that doormen seem to have that saysyou can’t seriously think you belong here, but it doesn’t happen. The smile doesn’t slip for an instant.

“That’s great. Go on in.” The guy presses a button and the doors click. Steve sails right through them.

I stand there. I’m not sure about this. It feels… weird. Not terrible or anything like that, but portentous, which is stupid, I know.

Steve turns when I don’t follow him, tilts his head. “Everly?”

“Sorry. Sorry, I’m a little nervous.”

Steve backtracks at my words and puts a hand on my arm. “Perfectly understandable. You’ve never been here before. You’ll be welcome, though I can promise that. And nobody will do anything you don’t want them to.”

“Okay. Right. It’s been a while. Let’s go.” I take a deep breath and walk in.

It’s almost disappointing. I expected a big room, a party going on, maybe even a bit of depravity, but instead, the doors open up to this hallway lined with doors. Sure, it’s a luxurious-looking hallway—all dark marble and chrome, but just a hallway nonetheless. And there’s this quiet here. A hush that’s filled with anticipation somehow. We walk along it and Steve gives me another smile.

“There’s a lounge at the end of the hall. That’s where we’re headed.”

“This is a swanky place. I like it.” Sort of. It’s also sort of intimidating. And yeah, I’m surprised that I’m even a little bit intimidated.

“Yeah, it’s nice. Just ahead.” Steve is almost skipping now, clearly eager to get to this Kalos of his.

I can hear noise now, the sound of voices and of… pleasure.

“So how does this work? Is there a bar?”

“No, it’s more a lounge. Couches and tables and such. But you can have anything you want—food, drink, hot and cold running dudes.”

That isn’t what I’m asking, but I’ll figure it out. I will.

The hallway suddenly opens up into a large room. There’s a bunch of couches circled around a low table. And yeah, although I can barely believe it, I’m not the biggest guy here, not by a long shot. Hell, I almost feel small compared to some of these guys. These smoking hot extra-large guys. Wow.

Steve heads over to a huge dude and leaps into his arms with a happy crow. “Master!”

He’s kissed to within an inch of his life. Wow. That’s… surprising and hot. I mean Steve’s almost as big as I am, but he looks tiny in this guy’s arms.

Okay, so… I guess I need to figure out where I need to go… A part of me is ready to turn around and bolt back down the same way we came, but a bigger part of me—a hornier part—wants to stay and see if what Steve promised was true…

There are a bunch of men, some clearly together, and here I am, on my own, searching for some way to get a drink, somewhere to sit and watch and try not to feel out of place.

Two huge studs stop in front of me. They have to be twins because they are mirror images of each other, with dark hair and smoky eyes, and the strongest jawlines I have ever seen in a man. I have to look up—way up—to meet their gazes. If my mouth wasn’t so dry, I would be drooling.

“You were abandoned by your friend,” the one says with a frown of disapproval.

“Obviously he has… someone he needs to see.” I mean, I get it, I guess. But Steve did invite me here and then yeah, he did more or less abandon me to my own devices.

The guy holds out his hand. “I’m Xeno.”

The other one thrusts his hand out too. “And I’m Zoro—with only one r.”

“We’re very pleased to meet you,” they say together. That’s sexy, the way they synched up like that on the last sentence. If they do it without trying, it’s even sexier, but I don’t know them well enough yet to know if that’s the case or not.

Before I can decide whose hand to shake first, Steve jumps up. “Oh, my god, I’m so sorry, Everly. That was so rude of me, especially after I invited you here.”

“It’s cool. You obviously missed him.” And the sincere apology makes all the difference.

“Your master will have to punish you, boy,” Xeno rumbles with a smile.
