Tyson takes my arm. “You know, if you come to your senses and figure out Raider is not the one for you, I can have you out of here in under five minutes.” I laugh and then I see Dad’s table and my heart feels lighter.

“Not on your life, Tyson. I know who owns my heart and I can’t wait to be his wife.” Tyson smiles at me and points to Ryan. We step around the partition and then the music starts. “The Ballroom Blitz” is blaring through the speaker and everyone either has a smirk on their faces or big smiles. Some are laughing out loud, and all the tension of the night is gone. Buzz is elbowing Raider in the side, and Gator is one of those laughing. Reaper is shaking his head. My mom is shaking her head too. Maggie is dancing. I keep hearing Tyson snickering to himself. We finally make it down the aisle and I’m standing one step down from Reaper and Raider. Reaper steps forward.

“You are something else, Billie. I think everyone has lost any jitters they may have had. So, let’s proceed.” Reaper winks at me and I wink back. Raider’s eyes are on me and there is laughter in them.

“Who gives this woman to be wed?”

Tyson’s chest puffs out. “Mr. and Mrs. William Nesbit and I do.” I didn’t know Tyson was going to say that but it seems fitting. Tyson kisses me on my cheek and I whisper my thanks to him. He gives my hand to Raider and he returns to his chair beside Honey. Raider kisses me immediately.

“You just keep surprising me.” Raider is always saying this to me. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” I tell him. We both turn and look at Reaper.

“I know you’re all expecting mushy words with rosy outcomes. I’m going to keep this real which is why Billie asked me to do this. We all here today to bear witness to Billie and Raider getting hitched.” Reaper doesn’t look nervous at all. “Life isn’t easy, but if you’re lucky enough to find that one person who is meant to be yours, then it becomes a hell of a lot easier. I think Raider and Billie have done just that.” Reaper looks at Raider and then at me. “Do you both each pledge to love each other and only each other?”

“I do,” I say just above a whisper.

“I do,” Raider replies.

“Do you agree to be faithful, loyal, and honest with each other?” Reaper ask us.

“I do,” Raider and I reply together.

“Life has its ups and downs. Can you weather those storms together?”

“I do,” we say again in unison.

“Anyone have any objections to this hitching?” No one says anything.

“Then by the powers of the Heavenly Devine Celestial and the state of Texas, I pronounce you husband and wife.” Reaper gives us time to kiss. “Times up kids. Turn around so I can introduce you. Ladies and gents, I would like to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Raider Miller.” Raider picks me up and spins me around. He carries me a few steps and our exit song starts. Raider laughs out loud when “Another One Bites The Dust” starts playing. Buzz, Gator, and Maggie are right behind us and Gator and Buzz are cracking up and singing along.

“This is the best wedding ever,” Gator speaks up.

“I agree,” Buzz says.

We ate our dinner and danced our butts off for the next hour. Everyone was having a wonderful time. I made my rounds and spoke to everyone and thanked them for coming. Then it was time to cut the cake. I know that we promised each other to be nice but I don’t feel like being nice. I don’t think Raider does either. Call it a guess.

“I love you, babe,” Raider tells me with a wink.

“I love you more,” I tell him and wink back at him.

We cut a small piece of cake and then cut it into two pieces. I’m to go first. I smile sweetly and then put the cake up to Raider’s mouth. I smash that piece of cake all over his face. Everyone is laughing it up. Part of the cake went into Raider’s nose.

“Darlin’, you know payback is hell.” I give him another sweet smile and he squashes the cake into the lower part of my neck and then licks it off. Damn, talk about overheating in here. I fan my face and then Raider comes up for air and smiles at me and winks. He knows exactly what he’s doing to me.

“Flower time,” Honey yells out. Raider and I clean each other up the best way we can. Tyson hands us wet towels and I kiss his cheek again.

I go over by the fireplace and all the single ladies stand up behind me. I pick up the throwaway bouquet. I look around and Mom and Honey are not up here. “Mom and Honey, get over here. You’re both single and, Maggie, you, too.” They come over and I turn around and throw the flowers over my shoulder. I turn around to see who gets it. Mom catches it first and then throws it back in the air and moves away, Honey gets hit in the head with it then and she throws it back in the air too. This time Maggie catches it. Maggie looks at it and throws it on the floor and smashes the flowers with her boots. Everyone laughs. It’s the most comical thing I have ever seen.

The garter was next and Raider enjoyed taking it off me. He put it on his arm and Reaper handed him the one he could throw. Raider flipped it and Buzz caught it. He wore it on his head the rest of the night.

Our wedding was everything I had hoped for and I know our future will be the same. We will get our happily ever after becauseLife Stands Still For No One.
