I walk over to her, pulling the switchblade out of my pocket as hear the beep of buttons. My head whips up to find him putting the code into the security system, and I quirk a brow as I cut through the first bit of tape. He wiggles his eyebrows at me as I make quick work of the rest of the rope. Shadow flies out of the seat, screaming a battle cry as she rushes them. They take off running through the front door, slamming it closed behind them and laughing as I hear the security system kick in. She attempts to open the front door, but it won’t budge. Sparks fly from the pad, making her back up as my brother looks through the glass on their side of the door with a huge grin on his face.

“Safety protocol initiated.”

“What did you do?” I bellow, making my way over to the door, and he smirks at me as I hear the crunch of metal as the safety shutters drop down.

“Enjoy your time together, Deacon will let you out when you learn to get on.” He disappears as the final shutter covers the door and hides him from view.

Shadow continues to pound her fists against the door, screaming like a banshee as I hear my brother and the others laughter getting further away. The bastard. I knew he was a dick, but what the fuck does he think he’s going to see at the end of this?

“It’s no use, they’ve locked us in,” I say, putting my hand on her shoulder to try and comfort her. She turns, snarling, and I growl as pain radiates through my cheek and I’m forced back a step. She takes off into the house, I can hear her trying to open doors and windows. I should’ve known something was going on when I realized the fridge and pantry had been stocked up earlier.

I shake my head as I hear her upstairs now, wondering how long it’ll take her to realize that there is no escape. My mom had the security company set this place up like an impenetrable bunker, and it just so happens to be Deacon that owns the company. I walk over to the bottle I left out, pouring myself another glass. I do the same for Shadow and leave it on the side, she’s got to run out of steam eventually, right?

Shit! I grab my phone out of my pocket, hitting call. I tap my foot as I wait for the call to answer.

“Yo, what’s up?” the gruff voice answers, and I laugh.

“Not going to make my blackout tattoo session tomorrow,” I say with a pissed tone. I managed to get booked in last minute for it and now I can’t go.

“You taking the piss, Kylo? That was half a day session,” Reed bellows down the phone like a pissed off grizzly.

“It’s not my fault, my brother has decided to lock my ass in the house with the girl I want that hates me, and your boss and the others went along with it,” I snap. The line is silent for a few seconds, then deep laughter roars down the line.

“They locked you in the house?”

“Yep,” I pop the P. “You know what they’re like, they think they’re helping, but I think it’s going to take selling what’s left of my soul to get through this.”

“How bad is it?” he asks, his laughter minimal now. That’s the thing with everyone, since the night when everything went down, we all get along. Bo was a brutal queen claiming what was hers and getting revenge on those who killed her parents and Ms. Jeanette, but what I think was the worst thing they could have done after that, was take her men. She loves without limits and protects her family without zero regard for herself. The guys protect her just as passionately as she does them, and I have to admit I’m a little jealous at the relationship between them.

“They’ve bought her to save her from ending up in…” my words break off as I remember what Axel told me about Reed’s sister, that’s why he’s taken to Bo like he has. She reminds him so much of his little sister.

“Shit, if you need anything, you know to reach out,” he says with a demand, I can hear his breathing change over the phone.

“Reed, breathe,” I try to pull him out of the memories I know are starting to haunt him. “C’mon, man, you did everything you could.”

“It wasn’t good enough,” he croaks.

“You were just a kid at the time, you can’t be blamed for any of it,” I say, tossing my drink back because this conversation just took a heavier tone than I thought it would. The line is silent for a minute, and I have to pull the phone away from my ear to make sure I’m still connected.

“What’s she like?” he asks with a curious lilt.

“She threatened to kill everyone,” I say, and he chuckles. “She had a pop at Bo and didn’t bat an eye.”

“Seriously?” he asks in shock. “Has the girl got a death wish?”

“I don’t know, man, all I know is we can’t get out of the house until Deacon lets us out, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to be sleeping with one eye open.”

“Holy shit,” he laughs.

“So yeah, if she kills me, say something nice at my funeral, won’t you?” I joke, chuckling, and his laughter joins mine.

“Kylo!” she roars from the landing. “If your psychotic brother doesn’t let me out of this damn house now, I’m going to chop you up into little pieces and feed you to Mr. Tickles.”

“Who the fuck is Mr. Tickles?” Reed asks down the line, while I openly stare at her with confusion.

“Who’re you talking to?” she says nastily, her eyes glued to the phone against my ear.

“What do you want me to answer first? Get my brother to let us out or tell you who I’m talking to?” I ask with a quirked brow. Reed’s chuckling on the phone and Shadow is glaring daggers at me.
