Dazed and confused, I got up and left the office as quickly as I entered it. I bumped into someone, but I didn’t look to see who it was. I mumbled a quick apology and fled.

I knew it was dangerous to be anywhere near Silas Caputo. What happened in his office just proved it. I didn’t have time for him and his mind games. The next time he got in my space, I would slap his face. That would show him to stay far away from me. Asshole.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Silas

That kiss was everything.I hoped I’d be able to taste her on my tongue hours later. If not, I might have to stop by her apartment for a visit.

Letting her go was a hard when all I wanted to do was to fill her with my cock and show her she was mine. But now was not the time.

I crouched down to pick up the mess on the floor when my colleague, Professor Laura Smith, swept into my office. She looked around quizzically.

“What happened here, Silas?” She batted her lashes.

“Nothing, I’ve just been a little disorganized lately,” I muttered. My mind was on my little Eden. The beast inside of me wanted to hunt her down, not deal with this fake bitch hovering over me with her cloying perfume.

“Really? Nothing?” She crossed her arms, which made her breasts push up in her low-cut shirt.

“Yes, Laura. Nothing. I was cleaning up right as you entered my office without knocking.” I glared at her as I straightened.

“We don’t need to knock on each other’s doors, Silas. Not after all we’ve been through.” She sidled up to me and ran her fingers down my bicep. Classic seductive move. I grimaced and took a step back.

She arched an eyebrow then licked her lips. “Silas,” she purred. She might as well croak like a from. Her voice wasn’t nearly as melodious as my Eden. “Didn’t we have fun together, you and me? I thought maybe we could try again.”

I sighed and walked around the desk and sat down, hoping she would take the hint. Before Eden, I might have taken the bait. Laura and I had a fling a year back, but I’d broken it off when she got too clingy. Normally I wouldn’t mind revisiting an old lover for an occasional one-night stand, but since meeting Eden, I had no desire to copulate with another woman.

Laura followed me around my desk and wrapped her arms around my neck. She leaned in and pressed a kiss to my neck. Before, when we were seeing each other, that was my favorite erogenous zone. Now, I felt disgusted that she would dare. Violating.

“There’s nothing between us, Laura. We are through and have been for quite some time.”

Before I could say more, my office door opened again, and Eden walked back in.

Fuck. This didn’t look good at all.

“Oh,” she sneered. “I didn’t know you were in another meeting, professor,”

I flinched at her tone, and I knew Laura noticed.

“Professor Smith was just leaving,” I assured.

“No need to leave on my account,” she replied coolly. “I forgot my—ah, there it is—my backpack.” Eden grabbed the bag and made a dismissive motion with her hand. “Bye.” She flew out the door.

“Let’s get back to our meeting, Silas.” Laura reached for me again.

I pushed my chair back, forcing her to back away as I stood. I headed for the exit. “I meant exactly what I said,” I growled, shooting a glare at Laura before chasing after Eden.

As soon as I caught up with her down the hall, I reached for Eden, but she jumped away from me. “Don’t even—”

“It’s not what it looks like—”

She swung around and pushed me back. “It is exactly what it looks like! You’re exactly who I thought you were. A manwhore.”

I grabbed her arm before she could dart off again. I didn’t give a fuck who saw us. “You will not walk away from me—”

“Let go!”

“No. You will listen to me.”
