Violet is bouncing DJ over in a corner with Abe and Dee, but her eyes are on her husband and stepdaughter. I walk over to Eagle, needing to get some answers. I groan as my guts twists as I move and alerts the men of my approach.

“Listen, I don’t know what the fuck you have going on, but that was a coordinated attack. They would have taken her if I hadn’t been here. She is not safe with you. I’m not affiliated with the club officially. No one knows I’m here. Tell me you have a better plan than letting me hide her?” The conversation I’m now in the middle of doesn’t make much sense to me until I see Manny is protecting Aurora from Eagle.

Wait, that doesn’t make much sense.

Aurora is shaking on the floor, eyes unfocused, and seems to be in complete shock. That’s when it clicks. This was Anton trying to get her back. I swallow down the bile that tries to creep up my throat. I slowly sit next to Aurora and hug her to me.

“Rora, what happened.” Her shaking gets worse, and I sigh.

“You don’t feel safe here now.” It’s rhetorical, and I didn’t think she’d answer, but her voice comes out clearly despite her trembling.

“NO.” I nod and look up at Eagle.

“Let Manny help.” The other man looks down at me.

I didn’t think Aurora was coherent enough to follow the men talking about her, but she stiffened and looks me straight in the eye before speaking.

“He’s a complete stranger. Do you trust him?” Her eyes are pleading with me to tell the truth.

She knows I don’t trust easily.

“I trusted him with my life and your aunts.” It’s the only truth I have to give her.

Her eyes leave my face, and she looks up at Manny. I’m not sure what happened between them while I was out, but there’s some major chemistry going on here that I don’t really have the time or energy to investigate.

“Ok, I’ll go with you.” She says, and before she can change her mind, Manny has her up in his arms and is walking out the door.

“WHERE THE FUCK IS HE TAKING HER?” Abe is charging after, but Eagle steps in his way.

“To safety. The less we know, the better. We already put her in danger, thinking we could keep her safe.” Eagle says the words to Abe’s face as the old man squares up with him.

“MOVE.” He spits out, but Dee grabs her husband’s arm, and he backs off slightly.

“Abe, he’s right. Let her go.” He turns sad eyes to Dee, and then we all jump when Satan roars.

“VIOLET!”

“Jesus Christ, Satan! She’s fine. FUCK!” We all turn to see Violet in Satan’s arms and Doc holding his nose.

Blood is seeping out from between his fingers. I sigh and go over to help him.

“Let’s go, Doc. It’s your turn to get cleaned up.” He curses everyone on his way to the infirmary.

Not sure if it’s because he’s a man or medical personnel, but he’s by far the worse patient in this place. I shove a tampon up his nose and slap an ice pack on his face before turning to leave him.

“Thanks, Nurse Hatchet.” He grumbles, and this time I do flip him off.

GENEVIEVE

The shower I just took was by far the best in my life. I never thought being clean was a luxury until now. Phoenix went out to buy me some clothes with Dragon while Abel and I sit talking about what happened. I pull the towel wrapped around me up since it’s slipping down.

“Here, I grabbed these.” He tosses me a bag, and I open it.

The smell of meat and grease fills the room, and I sigh happily. Five Guys isn’t typically somewhere I eat but right now? I couldn’t think of a better meal.

“Bet you never thought you’d be sitting naked in a towel alone with five guys and me?” He wiggles his eyebrows at me while I bite into the burger.
