We don’t break apart at first, our sweaty, gasping bodies clinging to each other. But Len unravels herself from me first and starts searching for her clothes.

We get dressed in silence, the smell of sex in the air.

Holy fuck. That was the hottest fucking sex of my life.

She can’t know that, though. So I play it off cool, like I know she will.

When we’re dressed, we make sure everything looks good in the lab and lock up.

“Thank you. I needed that,” Len says when we get to her apartment door after our walk home. We laughed and teased each other the entire way, no awkwardness in sight. Just two friends helping each other out.

“I kinda think I did, too.” I grin.

“Well…good night.”

“Night, Len. And don’t forget. I’m here whenever you need me.”

“Or when you need me,” she teases. With an adorable wink, she closes her door.

I float back to my apartment, on damn cloud nine over here.

It’s just sex, Holden. Just like you wanted.

Right.

Just sex.

Like I wanted.

Chapter11

Lennox

If Holden wantsto be my escape, then so be it. I’ll hold up the end of my bargain no problem. I’m always ready to escape.

The next night, when he gets off from a shift at the lab, I wait for him in the hallway and drag him to an empty lecture room. The door’s open so why not? I make sure to lock the door behind me.

“Len, in here?” Holden’s laughing but he looks around, his eyes wide. He’s so damn cute. “Let’s just go back to my place.”

“It’ll be quick. Think of it as an adventure.” Once I start pulling down my jeans, he watches me intently and licks his lips. “You know you want to.”

He’s on me in less than a second, and his dick plunges deep inside me. Phew, for a nerdy boy, he sure can fuck. And he’s fucking sexy. Not to mention the way he punched that guy. He claims he lost his muscles, but I disagree. Not with the way his biceps feel under my fingers when we fuck.

I enjoy escaping. With how much we see each other at the lab and with how damn hot the sex is, how can I possibly resist? It’s easy and always available.

So my escaping goes from maybe a couple of times a week to almost every day.

Every chance we get alone, I can’t help myself, his personality turning me on in every way. How he crinkles his eyes when he laughs or gives me shit for something, so he teases me, and I tease back, which turns into flirting, then kissing, and the next thing I know, our clothes are off.

Most of the time, I don’t even need to hit him up. He’s always around and ready. It works well. A little too well. But I’m simply ignoring that fact.

During our shifts together, we joke and have a great time. Sometimes Jaime scolds us for being too loud, but it’s all in good fun. I quiz him about English lit, and he shows me his favorite comic books from pictures on his phone. When we close the place together, we get it on after the doors are locked. Otherwise, I’m sneaking him into my room or he’s sneaking me into his.

Because there’s only one small problem. Our roommates. We agreed to keep our arrangement a secret. Hanging out as friends on occasion is fine, but our friends finding us in bed together or seeing one of us tiptoeing out in the middle of the night? Let’s avoid that at all costs. It’s just easier than fielding questions.

The pact with Holden is fun. At house parties, we find a room to hide in. At beach parties, we find a place somewhere away from everyone. Having Holden with me keeps that asshole away, who thankfully I haven’t seen since I kicked him, and it fills me with security. A feeling I’m not used to. But one I want more than I thought I did.

I find myself not drinking as much. A couple of shots, a drink or two, and I stop. I don’t need to get drunk to be with Holden, and there’s no more hunting down a hookup for the night.
