But hearing your laughter every day,

shades of purple have become my favorite thing.

With every smile,

I hope you know I’m the luckiest man alive.

Cause don’t you know, darlin’,

before all else,

you are the love of my life.

In frontof thousands or just a few,

it doesn’t matter, can’t keep my eyes off of you.

And when you whisper, “Closer,”

mmm, you take my breath away.

As long as I have you,

I hope you know I’m the luckiest man alive.

Cause don’t you know, darlin’,

before all else,

you are the love of my life.

As the band continues to play, Clay looks at me and crooks his finger, gesturing for me to come onto the stage, and I do. My feet move, my eyes are one hundred percent focused on him, and my heart is in my throat.

At this, Clay pulls the microphone from the stand and walks over to meet me with it still in his hand. He uses his other to pull his hat off and drop it to the ground next to my feet, and he runs his hand through his damp hair. He’s smiling down at me, and all I can do is stand here transfixed and stare.

Then he lifts the microphone to his mouth. He licks his lips, keeps his eyes locked on me, and starts singing.

Cause don’t you know, darlin’,

there’s no one else.

Please say you’ll marry me,

and become my wife.

My hands fly to my mouth as more tears run down my face.

Clay reaches into his front pocket, pulls out a beautiful diamond ring, and gets down on one knee.

Please say you’ll marry me,

and become my wife.

Everything around us fades away. We aren’t on a stage. There aren’t thousands of people cheering, and our friends aren’t here. It’s just us. He’s all I see, and as I throw myself into his arms and tell him yes, I know this moment will be one of the greatest of my life.

Clay told me once Nietzsche said, “Without music, life would be a mistake.” While I understand what he’s saying, I think he’s wrong. I could live without music, but the mistake would be living without love.

And with Clay, I know we have the greatest love of all.

The end.
