“I don't understand.”

“I want to go home. I need to see it all one last time. I choose you; I want to date you. I want you to pick me up from my house and take me somewhere. Who knows whose bed we'll end up in when the date is over. I want that experience; I've never had the time to date. Just a quickie and then back home. Pretty please, will you be my first date?”

I aim for coy and seductive. He is offering me everything, and the only thing he wants in return is a hint of commitment on my part. Of course I'm going to choose him. He deserves to know.

“OK. But you give me the rest of the day first. I need to get things in order.”

“Fine. I can wait that long.”

There's a little more magic in his lips when they meet mine again this time.

LeavingPorterupstairsonthe phone to his mum, I've come downstairs to keep my end of the arrangement.

I have done the unthinkable; I have agreed to allow a rival to profit from my feelings. Now I am pacing the office floor second guessing myself. Is it really so bad to have her running off with a small stash of drugs? She was going home to Porter to get rid of my drugs, whether handing them off to someone else, or the less likely idea of flushing it all away. It's not my city, not my problem. I've cut off her supply now, so she'll have to look elsewhere. The flip side is that I have saved Porter from the monotony that was his life, and I have finally found someone I want to give my heart and my future to. I can only hope that Dad can see value in him. If not…

My eyes fix on the view from my window, a vast open grassland without purpose. There is value in owning land, even if the land has no purpose other than to look pretty and make me happy.

“Knock knock.” Caeo announces his arrival, then knocks on the open door.

“Who's there?” I joke.

“Haha.” Caeo enters the room, not humouring my attempt to brighten the mood. “Where are we dumping the bitch?”

“Just get her outside Thayer turf. She can make her own way from there.”

“And the money?” His voice is curt, I know he doesn't agree with this.

“Not a penny.”

“OK. Good.” He was one of my guys helping search for Carrie.

“I just want her off my property and away from here.”

“Glad to help.”

“Oh, Caeo, I'm going to need proof. Porter is bound to ask.” I remind the man. A photo will do, I just need something. “Give her no promise about the drugs or the dealer. I will still find him and then end him.”

Caeo's smile pleases me. He is clearly relieved by my words. I've not completely gone soft.

“I'll meet you at the main door in case Porter gets any funny ideas.” Who knows what those ideas might be, but I'm going to be there just in case he comes down. Seeing his sister leave could be enough to change his mind. Talking to her certainly would.

The door to the basement is disguised as wall panels, it even has a sideboard attached to it as added cover. Not that Tiffany gets to see it; her head stays covered until she gets abandoned.

I wait by the stairs as Caeo and Freddie bring her up from the basement. As they walk through the door I can’t resist myself.

“Goodbye Miss Ellis.”

“Send my brother back when you get bored of him,” Tiffany calls sarcastically. The bitch still thinks she's won, which is annoying being as she has won. But I have Porter now, and it's more than I could ever deserve.

“If we ever meet again, you'll be dead.”

“You're not man enough,” Tiffany protests, wriggling against the men holding her as if she wants to stand and argue this out. I'm not interested in rising to the bait. She isn’t worth it.

That doesn't stop her continuing the whole way out of the house.
