“Don’t shoot.”

Sage startled and looked up to find Dante walking towards her, his familiar swagger and cocky grin in place.

“Not a problem since I don’t have a gun in my hand,” she replied.

“I think your eyes could shoot lasers with that death glare you got goin’ on,” Dante chuckled. “Tone down the anger. For now.”

Sage tried to take a deep breath but with the push up bra and the tight top she had on, it was difficult.

“I’m fine. I’m just trying to gear myself up. Its…it’s a lot,” she confessed.

Dante nodded and reached for her hand. She jumped at the contact and then realized her mistake.

“Settle,” Dante commanded.

How could she? Her heart was racing and everything in her body was snapping like a live wire. She was anxious before but when Dante touched her? Talk about sparks flying.

She didn’t want to think about what would happen if he kissed her again.

When he kissed her.

They’d have to make out at the bar to put on a good show.

God, Dante’s kiss was like nothing Sage had ever experienced.

No man had ever kissed her like that. It was possessive, primal. The passion she’d felt in that moment was more intense than any sex she’d ever had. Which was concerning and unsettling to say the least.

Why now and why this man?

It didn’t matter. Lust was just that and could be ignored. She had self-control. And whatever this was between them, it would fade. Dante liked the chase and once that went nowhere, he’d be gone. And she’d forget all about him.

“I’m fine.”

He stepped forward and when his hips collided with hers, she startled again. But not because she wanted to move away.

Sage wanted to get closer. Skin to skin.

Looking up into Dante’s eyes, she saw the surprise in his gaze. The desire too.

Instead of pulling away, she leaned in. Strong hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her in tight, until there was nothing between them but denim and leather. Even still, she felt the heat of his body and the firm muscles of his abs.

Then he claimed her mouth again and instead of fighting it, she leaned in. When his skillful tongue slid over hers, she couldn’t help the moan that escaped.

Fuck, he’s really good at that.

Then every other thought flew out of her head.

His kisses were deep, drugging, and she forgot about playing a role. Until she heard another low moan. This time, it was Dante.

Then suddenly, he leaned back and licked his lips.

“Better.”

Sage’s brain finally clicked into gear, and she glared at him. “Warn me next time.”

“I won’t need to. You’ll be the one kissing me.” He winked, then turned and straddled his bike.

Cocky bastard.Sage’s temper was about to unleash but she held it in.
