Only, this was Sage.

On top of this raging need to screw her – bareback - Dante didn’t want the other bikers getting a look at what was his.

Listen to yourself, idiot. Get your head back in the game. Say something stupid, start a fight, and let’s get this operation moving. Then you can get the hell away from her.

Ignoring every single one of his body’s instincts, Dante pulled back from Sage’s tempting lips and sneered at her.

“That the best you can do?” he taunted.

The spark of anger in Sage’s eyes lit.

“You fucking pig!” she snapped and pushed at his chest.

“Watch your mouth, bitch!” Dante yelled back. “You show me goddamn respect, or we’re done.”

Sure enough, their fight was now garnering attention. He could feel the eyes of several bikers turned his way.

“You wouldn’t know respect if it bit you on your overrated ass!” she countered, sticking her finger in his face.

Even if this was pretend, she was getting him good.

And Sage was breathing so hard, from anger and probably stress, her tits nearly slipped out of her top. His throbbing dick grew even harder.

Dante’s anger erupted – for real this time - when all the men around them crept closer to her. Looking for his seconds…

“One more word from your smart mouth and you can find your own way home!” Dante stated. “Better yet, fuck off, and don’t ever come looking for me again.”

“I don’t need you anyway. You’re a third-rate fuck!”

Dante stepped closer. “Didn’t seem that way when you were screaming my name this morning.”

“Please.” Sage rolled her eyes. “That was acting. I just wanted you to get done and get gone.”

Dante knew he’d have to leave the bar for Sage to make contact with the Midnight crew, but it went against every bit of his common sense, training, and instinct. Much as he didn’t want this unwanted attraction to her, he also didn’t like the thought of her in danger.

And being alone, in this crowd?

“You’re gettin’ your wish, skank. You ain’t worth the trouble.”

Dante stomped off towards the exit and forced himself not to turn around.

Once outside, he slid onto his bike and gunned it, his hands shaking. Then he peeled out of the parking lot before he could change his mind. He was headed down the road to the Nightfall motel, the rendezvous point with Sonny and Wyatt.

Dante drove into the back of the lot and stopped when he spotted Sonny’s SUV.

Sonny and Wyatt got out and walked over as Dante turned off his engine.

His hands were still trembling. Fucking hell.

“Everything okay?” Sonny asked, crossing his arms.

“As planned.” Dante nodded. He could barely draw breath. “We got into a fight, I left, and now Sage is in there. Alone. Unarmed—”

“She knew the risks.” Wyatt shrugged.

“She don’t know this life!” Dante roared. “Not like us. She ain’t like us.”

“Exactly,” Sonny replied calmly, his blue eyes assessing. “But she did it anyway. She’s got a fire inside her. I may not know her, but I see what she’s doing and why. And so do you. Let her be. Whatever happens, happens.”
