“I—” Dante shook his head. “I need to get out of here. I need to go.”

“Do it.” Sonny cocked his head. “We’ll wait for her signal.”

Dante made to start his bike again, but he couldn’t leave. As much as he wanted to run from Sage, he just couldn’t go. He was so fucked up.

“You going or what?” Sonny snapped.

“No,” Dante responded and ran a hand through his hair. “No. I brought her in on this and I’m gonna see it through.”

Wyatt smacked his shoulder. “Never seen you lose your cool over a rando.”

Dante gave him a choice finger.

“She’s not a rando. Now shut it, before I do it for you with my fist,” Dante warned.

Wyatt raised both his hands up in mock surrender and walked backwards.

Sonny tapped his earpiece. “Testing. Sage, reply yes.”

Dante’s chest tightened, every second feeling more like a minute. His heart pounded so hard, so fast, he was lightheaded.

Until Sonny finally nodded.

Dante was sure his heart was never going to beat the same way again.

Sage

Time to play with the big boys.

Sage ordered another beer and sipped it slowly.

Several bikers crowded around her at the bar, talking her up.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed one of the Midnight crew sitting at the far end. He was the least repulsive of all the men around her. Now all she needed was to get his attention. He was busy talking to another woman, a brunette with a big smile and bigger tits.

She grabbed her beer and made her way to the end of the bar, snagging the last stool, the one beside her target.

Unfortunately, another biker came up beside her. He was big and blond, with a dagger tattooed on his left cheek. Sage noticed the coldness of his grey eyes. His breath reeked of pot and sour beer.

“Where’s your ol’ man? The guy you came in with?” he asked her.

“He left me here. Asshole.”

Sage went to grab her beer bottle but knocked it over, the liquid spilling over the counter and right onto her target’s hand.

“Watch it, bitch!” The Midnight biker yelled and turned to her.

Finally, she got his attention.

She grabbed a bar napkin and wiped the counter and his hand. “Sorry, can I buy you another beer? I’m Sage.”

He gave her a slow once over and lingered on her tits. “Axel. I ain’t seen you here before.”

“First time.”

“No ol’ man?”

“We just broke up. Only been together a few weeks. Fucking piece of shit.”
