Adam ran toward the master bedroom with Nash hobbling after. Lucas shook his head and almost tripped when he went to take a step and his bunched clothes stopped his movement.

“Don’t trip!” Nash laughed before he rounded the corner out of sight.

Lucas’s hand itched to smack the ass of his smart-mouthed boy.

Lucas

He held Adam’s hand tight as they traversed the main casino floor. It was busy. The noise volume jiggled his nerves as Lucas tried to keep an eye on how Adam was faring.

Lucas had been surprised that Adam didn’t seem bothered being back in town. It had been his baby’s idea to head down to the coffee shop and get drinks for everyone. After spending over an hour in bed with his boys, then a quick nap, Lucas was ready for caffeine himself.

“There it is!” Adam pointed across to the shop with a blue and white banner that was barely noticeable through the crowd. He dragged Lucas across the crowded casino floor until they reached the entrance.

He was surprised by the warm, casual feel of the coffee shop inside the casino. Lucas had expected a little coffee stand or something similar. Just a quick place to grab a cup before people continue gambling. Instead, the wide glass doors stood open with the fresh aroma of coffee in the air.

The tables inside were dark brown and spread around the right side of the space. Farther back there was even an entire wall of shelves holding books. Some smaller round tables were placed by the books.

“This is gorgeous,” Adam said.

“It is.” Wow, Lucas might not work in a coffee shop like his baby, but he could appreciate the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

“I might come down and hang out later. I’m not much on gambling but this…yeah…this is great.”

Lucas squeezed Adam’s hand. He loved that Adam trusted him enough to come along. This wouldn’t be easy for his baby. Eventually Adam would be faced with too much of his past. “Why don’t we get our order in.”

They were the only ones currently by the counter to order although most of the tables were full. The patrons ranged from young people who looked like they were studying, to couples, a few single customers, and even an older gentleman reading a book.

In the middle of a casino.

Weird.

Adam took the lead as they reached the register and the pretty black-haired young man who greeted them. He had a lip piercing, a sleeveless shirt, and ripped jeans. He was a cute guy although not as gorgeous as his own men.

The name tag read Dom and announced the guy as the manager.

Adam gushed about the shop as he began talking about his own coffeehouse back home. Lucas let the two young men visit until his eye caught on another person entering.

Lucas grinned.

He received a huge smile back in return.

“I’ll be right back, baby,” Lucas whispered.

Adam waved a hand as he continued to speak animatedly with the manager and not caring where Lucas was going. He chuckled as he stepped away.

“Jesse!” Lucas strode forward.

“Lucas.” Jesse pulled him into a rough hug, slapping Lucas’s back hard.

Lucas pulled back. Jesse looked good. Exceptionally good. His light gray suit was tailored and fit Jesse’s toned body well. He smiled with bright white teeth. He was older than Lucas by a few years, but those years had been kind. His styled brown hair shone under the lights and his blue eyes lit up as he spoke.

“It’s good to see you, man. I was glad Trick reached out about your trip.”

Lucas nodded. “I appreciate the room, man. Truly. A bit more than I expected.” A bit was an understatement.

Jesse waved his hand. “What good is being the owner if I can’t take care of my friends.”
