Was she supposed to do something to distract him so Hedda could do something? Was she supposed to stand there and not do anything, praying and hoping he wouldn’t kill her?

Storm hadn’t even told Miles she wanted him to be her Daddy. That she wasn’t bothered by the fact that he killed people. There were so many things left for Storm to do and this moment made her realize she was going to miss all of those.

“It’s too late for me,” Richard said. “I’m already in trouble with Ethan. Fucking Miles ruined it all when he shot Jared. The next best thing is for Storm to go to him!”

Her whole body shook as she realized what he was talking about. She had no clue who this Ethan person was, but if he was anything like Richard, she wasn’t going to have a good time.

“I can’t let you do that,” Hedda said, drawing her gun from behind her.

Storm’s eyes went wide as a bang went off.

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

MILES

“Kirk said he got a ping on Richard’s phone to a motel a mile away from you,” Rogansaid. “We had two guys go over and check to see if he was there, but they said he wasn’t but were told he would be back in a couple hours. We’ll head there and see if we can’t catch him.”

“Sounds good,” Miles replied. “I can’t believe he was stupid to stay in a motel.”

Miles had thought since Richard was a high ranking person in the FBI, he would have more common sense than that. He worked with dangerous people and yet he went to a motel and stayed there?

It didn’t make sense.

But maybe he really was that dumb. It wouldn’t be the first time Miles had encountered a person that dumb. They were more common than he thought.

He couldn’t wait to get his hands on Richard and torture him. He had hurt too many innocent people and it was time for him to go. Richard should’ve known not to mess with anyone in the Ricci Crime Family or their personal family.

No one came out of it alive when they messed with them.

Family was important. Honor was important. Going after innocent people wasn’t what they were about.

“I can’t wait to have this fucker in our hands,” Miles said. “He’s messed with the wrong-”

The sound of a gunshot got Miles and Rogan’s attention. Looking at each other, they jumped from their seats and ran toward his office.

What could have happened in the office while they were gone?

Miles grabbed hold of the door handle and yanked the door open. The first thing he saw was Storm, standing completely still, with blood all over her. His eyes drifted to the floor where he saw a body.

Not just any body, but the body of Richard.

Laying on the ground with a pool of blood surrounding him. Miles could see the hole in his neck where he had been shot.

Looking over to his right, he saw Hedda holding her gun in her hands, shaking like a leaf. If everything was what it looked like, Hedda had shot Richard. Meaning it was her first shot ever taken on a human.

Grabbing his phone from his back pocket, he hit Angelo’s name.

“Yes?” he asked. “Did she rip her stitches again?”

“Don’t know. Need you to come here stat,” Miles said and hung up.

He needed to get to Storm and make sure she was okay. Miles knew Rogan would make sure Hedda was okay and after he knew Storm was okay, he would check up on Hedda, too.

It was always the hardest when it was the first kill. He remembered when he first shot someone, the nightmares he got after were horrible. He would wake up in cold sweats, reliving the moment over and over again.

“Stormy?” he softly said.

He didn’t want to just touch her without her knowing he was there. Miles had seen some people touched after an event like this and they would freak out. He didn’t want Storm to freak out, not when he could avoid it.
