“I promise,” she responded.

Storm brought Hedda into an embrace, giving her an extra big squeeze before she let go.

“You keep Miles on his toes and get into some trouble,” Hedda said as she got into the car.

Tears streamed down Storm’s face as she watched the car leave the driveway.

Storm rounded the corner, giggling as she bumped into the wall, but she kept going. She needed to get as far away from Daddy as she could.

“Storm!” he yelled. “Get your ass back here right now!”

She giggled even louder.

“It wasn’t nice for you to throw eggs at me and then flour,” he loudly said. “You’re going to get in trouble for that!”

“Only if you can catch me!” she yelled back.

She had gotten more comfortable in the house every day since the incident. Granted, she didn’t go anywhere near his office or that hallway and she was pretty sure he was picking up on that. Any time he would suggest going to his office, she would get pale and tell him no thank you. He had never pushed her to go into the office.

Storm picked up speed when she realized he was getting closer. She needed to get to her hiding spot before he could catch her. She grabbed the bottle of bubbles and dumped the contents on the floor.

She knew she was going to get into even more trouble, but she was already too far in to stop. Today she had woken up and felt like creating some mischief. She hadn’t known what she was going to do but when she saw Daddy cooking breakfast, she knew.

“Shit,” she heard him say. “Storm! You stop right this instant.”

She didn’t stop. Why would she? She needed to get to her Little room so she could hide in the closet behind the clothes.

Before she could open the door, she felt Daddy’s arm wrap around her midsection and pull her back.

“Daddy!” she whined. “Let me go!”

“No,” he said. “What you did was naughty.”

She pouted and wriggled in his arm, but his grip only tightened on her.

“You knew better than to do that and yet you still did. Both times,” he said. “You also ran in the house and don’t think I didn’t see you hitting the wall when you turned the corner.”

She winced at that. No running in the house was one of her rules because she had hurt herself earlier that week. It wasn’t fun getting hurt but running in the house was. The obstacles she had to try and miss when running was what made it fun.

“Now,” he said. “You're going to go stand in the corner until I tell you to come out.”

She whined and shook her head. She didn’t want to stand in the corner. It was so boring.

“I want you to think about what you did and why it was wrong,” he said. “And I want you to really think about it.”

She grumbled as he set her down in the corner. She leaned her head against the wall and closed her eyes.

“Ah, you know the position,” Daddy said. “Legs spread apart and bottom sticking out.”

She got into position and tried to relax, but it was hard.

“Are you thinking about what you did wrong?” Daddy asked.

She sighed and nodded her head. Now she was. Storm knew what she did was wrong and she shouldn’t have done it, but it was just so hard not to.

Guilt festered in her stomach and she started to squirm in place. She couldn’t help herself not to throw the egg at him. It was like he was subconsciously calling for her to do it and she just had to.
