“Stand still,” Daddy said. “Or the time will restart every time you move.”

She whined and tears filled her eyes. She had gotten in trouble before and had been sent to the corner to think about her actions, but this time felt different. Deep down she had a feeling there was going to be other punishments involved and corner time was just the beginning.

“Come to Daddy,” he said. “Slowly.”

Storm turned around and slowly walked toward him. The last time she was in the corner, she had raced toward him; not a wise idea.

“Now, what did you do wrong?” he asked.

“I threw an egg at you and flour,” she whispered.

“And?”

Storm sniffled. “And I ran away and threw bubbles on the ground.”

“And why did you do that?”

She looked up at him hoping to see compassion on his face, but she couldn’t tell what emotions he was feeling. Was he disappointed in her? Did he not care about it?

“Because you were secretly telling me to do it.” She whispered the first thing that popped into her head.

“What?”

“Your body language was just begging me to throw an egg and flour at you.”

“Storm,” he growled. “Take this seriously.”

“I don’t know!” she whined. “I don’t know.”

“I think you do.”

She took in a couple breaths as tears streamed down her face. She didn’t want to cry right now, but she was so frustrated after standing in the corner for who knows how long.

“I just felt like being bad,” she softly said.

“Naughty,” he said. “Not bad, naughty.”

She nodded her head. She didn’t really think there was a difference.

“You are not a bad person, but you did do some things that were naughty,” he said. “Now, I want you to sit at the table and write ‘I will not throw eggs, flour, or bubbles at anyone or anything’ fifty times.”

“Daddy,” she whined. “That’s so much!”

“Do you want me to add an extra ten?” he asked.

She shook her head. She didn’t want to have to do sixty lines.

“Good. Let’s get you all set up,” he said as he stood up from the couch.

Storm followed Daddy as he walked into the dining room where a piece of paper and pencil were laying on the table.

“I don’t want you to get up until you’ve finished all fifty lines,” he said. “If you whine an extra ten will be added.”

She nodded her head. “What if I have to pee?” she whispered, sounding so unsure.

She didn’t want to ask a dumb question, but she had drunk some water before she threw the egg at him and she didn’t want to pee her pants.

“If you really have to go to the bathroom, let me know and I’ll take you there but once you’re done it’s right back to the table to finish,” he said.
