“Homemade pizza?” she asked.

“Yep!” Hedda replied. “I know how much you like it, so I decided to make it yesterday. Thought we were going to hang out but then we didn’t so we’re having it today.”

She took a bite of the pizza and moaned. It tasted so good.

“Thank you,” she softly said.

“Welcome! Now, let’s watch Mulan.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

STORM

Today she had the morning off work and decided to go grocery shopping. She really didn’t want to, but she needed to. There was no food or drinks, besides water, in her house.

She had a couple extra dollars this week to get more food than she normally did. Working a lot had paid off. After missing those two days of work, she’d picked up extra shifts so she could regain the income she had lost but had managed to earn a little more.

Several of the employees didn't mind because they needed someone to take over their shifts so they could take some personal time. There was a single mom, Felix, who needed to take her daughter to the doctor but couldn't miss her shift because nobody was wanting to take it. That was until Storm said she could.

She just hoped that if she needed someone to take her shift, they would. She had done it for several people and was hoping they would return the favor. They probably wouldn't, but Storm wasn't going to complain. She needed all the money she could get so she didn't really think she was going to miss out on shifts.

Storm had been inside the grocery store for several minutes, grabbing the things she needed. The whole time she had been at the store, she felt like there were eyes on her. She had tried to look around and see if there was anybody there, but nobody stuck out.

The grocery store was busy, and several people would glance at her just like she would glance at them. Nothing looked out of place, but the hairs on the back of her neck and arms were sticking up.

Something was wrong.

She had never felt this feeling before and she didn't like it. She didn't like that she couldn't find out who was staring at her and making her feel so uncomfortable. Without knowing who it was, she couldn't go to the authorities or the manager of the store.

What would she say if she went to the manager? That somebody was staring at her, the hairs on her neck and arms were standing up, but she didn't know who it was? The manager would probably brush her off and tell her to go home.

Storm didn't know what she was going to do. The more she walked around, the more she felt the person's eyes on her. She needed to get out of here.

With that in mind, she walked to the front of the store and quickly paid for her things before starting her drive home.

It didn't take long for her to reach her apartment. As she got out of her car, the feeling of being watched was back. Her whole body froze and she quickly looked around, trying to find the person staring at her.

No one out of the ordinary was standing near her apartment. There were a few regulars standing by, but she didn't think it was them. Why would they start watching her now?

At the moment, they weren't even looking in her direction, just having a conversation with each other.

Storm’s whole body went on high alert as she walked toward the main entrance. She needed to get inside and fast so she didn't feel those eyes on her. Sadly, Storm did have to go into work which meant she was going to have to walk out again to her car.

Would they be gone by then?

Deep down she had a feeling they, whoever it was, were still going to be there after she put her groceries away and left to go to work.

She thought about calling the authorities, but Storm didn't really trust them. She’d heard too many horror stories about the cop being paid off or not being able to do anything and the person ending up getting hurt.

Storm didn't want to become another statistic.

She hadn’t received any other threatening text messages, which did surprise her. They probably stopped because she didn't respond at all.

She thought about telling Hedda or Miles about it but didn't want to involve them in case something was wrong.

What if she told them about this person staring at her and they went after them? She didn't want that on her conscience at all. Even though Miles had been rude to her, she didn't want him to get hurt. She cared about people and just the thought of somebody, him, getting hurt because of her didn't sit well.

Storm let out a sigh as she closed the door to her apartment. She needed to be quick about putting her groceries away because she had to get to work. She was also hoping that on her way out, she could catch a glimpse of whoever this person was.
