He smiled before the camera screen went black. Before Miles could throw his phone, a hand grabbed it.

“What the fuck?” he roared, looking at Kirk.

“I need it,” Kirk responded.

“Find her fast!” Miles yelled. “I need to find her now. She’s not going to last long with a weak immune system.”

He took several deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. He was starting to think of all the possibilities of what Richard could do to Storm. Richard could throw cold water on her again and make her super hot, shocking her system. He could also make her freeze and get hypothermia.

There were so many things Richard could do to Storm that could make her deathly sick and die before he got to her.

He hoped it didn’t come down to that.

“Why don’t you give Kirk some space to do what he does best,” Rogan said, touching Miles’ shoulder. “Once you do find her, you better keep a watchful eye on her.”

“No joke,” he said. “It was a mistake to turn my back on her but once I have her back, she won't have any space for a while.”

Rogan nodded his head and crossed his arms across his chest. “Good. She needs a Daddy. Hedda told me she got sick the day after your birthday party.”

“I wish that was a lie but it's not. That's where I was for a couple days, taking care of her,” he replied.

“Why the fuck did you leave?”

“This life is dangerous. You know that. Storm is innocent.”

In the back of his mind, he'd had this worry about doing the wrong thing in claiming her without her okay. No doubt there were people watching him, trying to find a weakness, and now he had one.

Storm was his weakness.

People were going to find out.

That had been one of his other worries when he thought about being in a relationship with her. His life was dangerous and he had several enemies. He always had to watch over his shoulder, ready to attack or defend at any moment.

Now, once he got Storm back, he was going to have to watch out for them both. It was going to be a little extra work, but he wanted to keep her safe and happy. There definitely would be things he would tell her no to, because of safety, and hopefully she would understand in the end.

Miles had no clue how she was going to react to everything. When he put his claim on her and told her she didn't have a choice, he hoped she would take it well. But deep down, he knew she wouldn't. Not with the way he had ended things before.

It would be a big change in her life. She would have to have a bodyguard if she still wanted to work at the bookstore. She would be moving in with him, immediately. And so many other things.

But he would keep her safe and happy. She would be spoiled but also disciplined.

“If she was my girl, I wouldn't have fucking left,” Rogan said.

Miles didn't say anything because he knew what he did, how he did it, was wrong. Now, after he got her back, he was going to make up for it. He would treat her like the princess she was and make sure she had everything she needed, within reason.

“How have the doctors not found out what’s wrong with her? Has she even gone to the doctor?” Rogan asked.

Miles let out a sigh and nodded his head. “She's been to plenty of doctors. I had Kirk give me the information on who the doctors wereand what they thought could possibly be wrong with her.”

When Kirk had sent over the file, it felt like it went on and on and on with a list of doctors she’d visited growing up.

“It was long,” Kirk said. “No fucking answer.”

“Are you serious?” Rogan asked.

“Dead serious,” Miles responded. “She went to countless specialists to see if they could figure anything out and none of them could. Granted, a lot of them were doctors in the small town, but they had medical degrees, legit medical degrees.”

“I would hope so,” Rogan chuckled. “What are you going to do about it?”
