She could feel the warmth from Hedda's hand seep into her skin. It brought Storm back to when Miles held her when she was sick. When she asked for him to cuddle her and he did. That was one thing she was going to miss. She loved it when Miles had held her as she fell asleep.

Storm tried to wrap her brain around what Hedda was saying but it was hard. Miles had told her he didn't want anything to do with her and now he wanted to be with her? That wasn't how it worked and as much as she wanted to be with him, she didn't know if that was a wise idea.

But she also didn't want anything to happen to him. If that meant she had to “wake up” and talk to him, then she'd do it. She just didn't want it on her conscience if she could have done something and he ended up dead because she didn't.

Storm focused on twitching one of her fingers in the hand Hedda was holding. She had no clue if she was actually moving her finger or not, but for a second she thought she felt it twitch.

“Storm?” Hedda asked. “Can you hear me?”

She tried to twitch her finger again but when Hedda gave her a squeeze, she knew she hadn't.

“Please don't tell me it was just a fluke. If you can hear me, please move your finger or squeeze my hand,” Hedda said.

Storm tried her hardest to move her finger but didn't know if she was successful or not. Everything ached and she felt like she didn't have control over anything in her body.

“Angelo!!” Hedda yelled. “Angelo!”

Who was Angelo? Why was Hedda yelling his name?

Storm heard footsteps come into the room. Two people. Hedda had only called one person, yet two people walked into the room. Could it be Miles?

Her heart rate spiked at the thought of it being Miles. She didn't know if she wanted to see him or not. She didn't want her heart broken even more.

“Hedda?” a male asked. “What's wrong? Why did you call me?”

“Angelo! Her finger twitched twice!” Hedda said.

“That could have just been reflexes. Did you just grab her hand when it happened?”

Storm wanted to scream that she could hear everything, and she really did twitch her finger, but maybe this person was right. Maybe she thought she twitched her finger but really, it was just her reflexes that were moving since Hedda grabbed and squeezed her hand.

She was hoping that wasn't the case.

“I grabbed her hand and a minute later she twitched her finger. I asked her if she could hear me because I was talking to her and told her to twitch her finger again,” Hedda said. “I squeezed her hand and after a couple of seconds she twitched her finger again. I'm not lying.”

“Okay,” the man calmly said. “I'll talk to Storm and see if she can do it again with nobody touching her. Would you let go of her hand?”

Silence was the next thing Storm heard and she didn’t know if she had made everything up from the past couple of minutes. Hedda holding her hand felt so real though, the warmth seeping into her skin and the squeeze.

“Storm, if you can hear me, try and open your eyes or move your fingers,” Angelo said.

This time around she focused on opening her heavy eyelids.

“Turn the lights down,” Angelo told someone. “She hasn’t seen lights in a couple days, and we don’t want to hurt her.”

Her eyelids started to get darker, making her heart rate spike.

“Calm down. It was just the lights. You don’t need to worry about anything,” Angelo said.

Storm continued to focus on trying to open her eyes and before she knew it, she felt them slowly cracking open.

“Her eyes twitched!” Hedda said.

That gave her the confidence boost to continue struggling to open her eyes. It felt like forever before she saw three very blurry people in front of her.

Storm tried to sit up but hot searing pain flashed through her midsection and she groaned.

“Easy,” Angelo said. “I’m Angelo, the doctor who has been taking care of you since Miles and Rogan rescued you.”
