“You’re going to have a lot of people reminding you to be careful,” Hedda said. “I can read your facial expression, babe,” she chuckled.

Storm took several deep breaths in, or well, deep enough it didn’t hurt, to calm down. She knew people were going to remind her about things and be doing stuff for her since she was injured.

That didn’t mean she had to like it.

She rubbed her eyes and blinked several times, looking over in Angelo’s direction. The first thing she noticed was the scar running down his face. He was the person she saw at Miles’ birthday party that looked absolutely scary.

“Hello,” Angelo said. “Finally see me clear?”

Nodding her head, she looked past him and to the male behind him.

A gasp escaped past her lips as she looked at him. He was huge and muscular, like he spent hours in the gym. She had no clue who this person was, but she didn’t want to know.

He leaned up against the wall with his arms crossed and a straight face as he looked at her. He had dark brown hair and blue piercing eyes.

Storm tried to make herself smaller in her bed, groaning as she moved.

“Storm,” Angelo said. “Relax.”

There was no way she was going to relax while this guy was here. He looked absolutely terrifying, like he wanted to murder her right now.

She needed to get away from him and fast.

“Well, Hedda, please make sure she relaxes. I have another patient I need to go talk to,” Angelo said before he walked out the door.

Storm opened her mouth, getting ready to call out his name, but he was gone before she could.

The other man pushed away from the wall and walked closer to her. She shrank into the bed even more, not caring that her midsection was screaming at her right now. Storm didn’t like that he was getting so close to her.

“My name is Rogan.” His voice was deep.

She had heard his name several times but still didn’t know who he was. Why was he walking closer to her? Why was he here?

“I’m the Don of the Italian Mafia, the Ricci Crime Family, and you are under my care right now,” he said.

Her eyes went wide as she stared at Rogan, not knowing what to say or do.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

STORM

Rogan continued to stare at her with a straight face. Her breathing started to pick up. He couldn’t be serious, right? There was no way he would just say he was the Don of the Italian Mafia.

People didn’t just do that.

Storm started to shake her head and lifted her hand up, trying to put some distance between them. She groaned in pain as her head and body ached.

“Stop!” Rogan barked at her.

She stopped shaking her head and looked toward Hedda, not knowing what to do. She was speechless right now and didn’t know how to get out of this.

Why was she under the protection of the Italian Mafia? How did she get involved with them?

Her head was swimming with questions and concerns as she stared at Hedda, but Hedda wasn’t looking at her.

Were her parents going to be okay? Was Rogan and his men going to go after her parents?

“Look at me,” he commanded.
