She didn’t like the sound of that. Storm didn’t want him to be watching her at all. She opened her mouth to tell him off, but he quickly placed the spoon in her mouth that was filled with the broth.

“Such a good girl opening her mouth for Daddy,” he said. “Let’s get this tummy fed.”

Storm shook her head and looked over his body. She didn’t think she could stomach another mouthful of soup with him still bloody from whatever he did before.

She looked over at Hedda, her eyes begging her to do something about it. She knew if she talked to Miles about it, he wasn’t going to hear anything she was saying. He may think she was just trying to get him away from her.

And in a way she was.

But if he was going to be around her, she didn’t want him covered in blood.

“Blood,” she whimpered. “Puke.”

She hoped Hedda would hear her pathetic little whimper of words. She had no doubt Miles heard her because she heard a growl.

Not good.

“What about blood?” he barked out.

“Miles,” Hedda said, trying to gain his attention.

“Storm,” he said. “Little one. Look at me.”

She didn’t look at him. She didn’t think she could.

“Miles!” Hedda raised her voice and took a step toward him.

“What?” he growled, looking at her.

“Maybe you should go take a shower to clean off all the blood that’s on you,” she softly replied. “Storm isn’t used to this and she may be squeamish with blood.”

“If she is, she better get used to it. He’s going to come home covered in blood a lot more often,” Rogan said.

Storm watched as Hedda glared back at him before turning back to Miles. Everything in her hoped Miles would understand and leave, but she wasn’t going to hold her breath. He was very adamant she was going to stay in his line of sight for a very long time and he had just gotten back.

“Think of her. She’s probably not feeling good right now with the smell of blood while she’s eating. You do want her to eat, right?” Hedda asked.

She stared at Hedda as she continued to talk. This was the first time she’d heard Hedda talk this long without cussing. Maybe Miles would see this and know she was serious about what she was talking about.

She hoped so.

Miles growled and through the corner of her eye, she could see him looking back at her. She still didn’t look at him. She didn’t want to.

“Rogan,” he growled. “Keep an eye on them while I go take a shower. Make sure Storm eats.”

Before anyone could say anything, Miles got up from his seat and handed her food to Hedda before he walked out of the room. She stared at the now empty seat as a strange feeling passed through her.

Was she missing him?

No. She couldn’t be. Sheshouldn’tbe.

He was forcing her to be with him, to move in with him. She shouldn’t be missing him once he left the room. He had been nothing but demanding and she didn’t want that.

Storm relaxed in the hospital bed and let out a breath of air.

“Don’t get used to him leaving you because it won’t happen again,” Rogan said.

She looked up to find him glaring at her.
