“Rightfully so. You need a keeper and he’s doing his job.” Rogan continued to talk.

Hedda walked over to her and sat down in the chair before handing the bowl of soup back to Storm.

“You better eat while he’s gone,” Hedda said. “He won’t be happy if you haven’t when he comes back.”

She nodded her head and slowly started to eat her chicken noodle soup. She wasn’t very hungry, but knew she needed to eat something.

“Everything is going to be okay,” Hedda whispered. “We’re going to get you through this.”

Storm didn’t know how to reply to that. How was she going to get through this? Rogan had threatened her. He was the Don of the Ricci Crime Family. Miles had claimed her, telling her people were already moving her stuff into his house.

How was she possibly going to get out of this?

For the first time in her life, she felt stuck and didn’t know what to do. How was she supposed to cope with all of this?

She got shot and kidnapped, all because of Miles. He was the cause of all of this.

Right now, Storm wished she had told Hedda she wasn’t going to the party several weeks ago. Then she wouldn't have met Miles.

But then she wouldn’t have met Miles.

While she was angry at him for everything he had caused, he also made her realize how much she wanted a Daddy. That she needed to get out there and find a Daddy of her own. He made her feel cherished while he took care of her when she was sick. He made her feel things no one had ever made her feel before.

The more Storm ate, the more tired she got. Having food in her stomach was making her drowsy. Probably because her body was getting the nutrients it needed and it was still trying to heal.

“I’m so tired,” she whispered to Hedda.

“You’re still recovering from everything that happened,” she said. “Take a nap. I’ll be here when you wake up.”

She watched as Hedda grabbed her now empty bowl. Storm closed her eyes and fell asleep.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

MILES

The only thing going through his mind was getting back to Storm. He needed to keep an eye on her at least until the threat was gone.

Richard was still out there, and Miles needed to protect Storm.

He had failed Storm once and he wasn’t going to let that happen again. Not on his watch.

Miles was more determined than ever to make sure she stayed healthy and safe, no matter what he had to do. If he had to kill hundreds of people, then he was going to do that.

No one was ever going to hurt her again. Not if he could help it.

The shower was probably one of the quickest he ever had taken. He wanted to be thorough and get all the blood off him but at the same time, he didn’t want to be gone from Storm for too long.

When Rogan had called him saying she was awake, he’d quickly killed the last person and drove over to the compound. Nothing was going to keep him away from what was rightfully his. Miles had felt several different emotions when Rogan had called.

He couldn’t believe she was awake after several days of being asleep, in a coma of sorts. The doctor, Angelo, had said it was her body’s way of healing and she would wake up when she needed to.

Miles had contacted his sister’s Daddy, Michael, to ask and see if he would say the same thing. He trusted Angelo, but this was Storm, and he wanted another opinion on it. Michael had told him Angelo was right and she just needed to rest and heal.

He wasn’t used to this kind of worry. Yes, he had worried about Hedda sometimes, but this was different. He had feelings for Storm and it felt more intense than normal.

Walking around the corner, he made his way in the front door and took a deep breath. He wasn’t expecting Storm to argue and disagree with him when he said she was his and she was moving in with him. He thought she would be happy.

But he was wrong.
