My anger began to thaw, my righteous indignation fizzling as the weight of missing him mauled my chest.

He watched me with a hunger that I wanted to keep in my heart forever, then his fingers gathered at his waist, freeing his dress pants until they fell to the floor as well.

I raised up on my elbows, watching him.

“Forgive me,” Liam repeated.

I smiled deviously and had a wicked thought.

“Beg me,” I slid my thong down and parted my legs, “with your tongue.”

Liam hovered over me, his lips spread in a cunning smile, and I relaxed into the pillows as his head found its way between my thighs.

Secret Kisses

We arrived backin Macon a few days later.

Liam had allowed me the privilege to spoil his daughters rotten with shopping trips, all the ice cream they could eat, and their very own surf boards, which I stored at my old house—well, Colson’s house. I would have to get used to that. Now, after checking in on Nora’s garden, I was pulling into Liam’s.

As I pulled into the driveway, I pressed the garage door opener, but it didn’t work.

Confused, I tried again, and nothing.

I’d have to ask Liam to look at it. As soon as I thought him up, he appeared in front of the house, wearing a pair of loose basketball shorts, and nothing else.

My heart flipped over itself.

I exited the car and grabbed my purse, walking directly in front of him until the sun wasn’t in my eyes.

“The garage door isn’t working.”

He nodded, dipping his chin to his chest. “I pulled the line, so it won’t open unless you do it manually. I’ll fix it, but one thing first.”

His gray eyes landed on mine in a determined manner. Resolve had landed in his gaze, and it settled on me like a piece of granite.

“Before you come in, you need to be sure.”

“Be sure?” My voice was more of a whisper as fear rattled in my chest.

His fingers wrapped around my wrist, pulling me until my chest was flush against his.

Then he pushed a piece of hair behind my ear.

“Be sure you’re ready to stay. Once you step through that door, that’s it. You’re mine. I’m not playing this distance game anymore. I want you in my bed at night.”

He placed my palm over his heart.

Then he continued with a voice rough and cracked.

“You belong in here, but you keep finding a way out. You keep needing to be away from me, and it’s like the rest of my body just has to learn how to function without you.”
