Lucia sighs. "My father, my brother, my husband, my father-in-law, and the list goes on. Every single mafia man who had a chance to put me first didn't." Her eyes catch mine and don't let go. "Including you."

She's wrong. Like last night, she's dismissing the truth of how precarious Nuovi Inizi's position is with at least two syndicates vying for territory.

The Russians are gone. For now. We can't trust thepakhannot to try again with bigger numbers though.

"Do we have a deal?" Lucia asks Zeus, her voice strained.

"Yes." My brother reads through the papers in front of him and then sends a text. "I will pay for Leonardo Revello's care in the facility, but his don deserves to know where he is."

"What?" Lucia jumps up and shoves past me to glower down at my brother across his desk. "You can't tell him. Even if Don Russo is willing to leave my brother-in-law where he is, Lenny's grandfather won't be. Agustino Sr. was a stickler for keeping it in the family, but his father is militant about it. He's totally old school."

"Lenny has a living grandfather and you've had sole responsibility for his care since his father's death?" I put my hand on the small of Lucia's back.

For a single breath, she leans back into me. But then she pulls away and shrugs. "I told you, his grandfather is old school. I wouldn't put it past him to kill Lenny to protect the Cosa Nostra."

"His own grandson?" Zeus asks.

"Considering your grandfather's protection of the Hades Brotherhood is the reason your brother's back is riddled with scars, I'm surprised you have to ask that question." Lucia casts a concerned glance at me.

Like she's worried I'll be hurt by her bringing up the scars. I'm not surprised she figured out the real circumstances behind my captivity, now that she knows the truth of my background.

I didn't lie to her about it. I left some stuff out. Like she did. My mafia princess.

She'll be the perfect wife for me.

After a perfunctory knock, Orion and Zephyr come into the office. Helios is right behind them.

"Let me look at the contract." Orion puts his hand out. "If everything is in order, Atlas and Zephyr will sign as witnesses and I will notarize it."

Zeus jerks his head in the affirmative.

"I need some air." Lucia spins around and pushes my cousins out of her way to get to the door.

I follow.

When we get in the hall, she looks to the right and to the left, her face creased with worry. "Which way?"

The bathroom. She's turned around and doesn't remember where it is.

I grab her hand and lead her to the guest bathroom closest to Zeus's office.

Lucia barely makes it to the toilet before throwing up bile. There is no food in her stomach because she skipped breakfast. I assumed she would have grabbed something before sneaking out of the apartment.

"You can't miss meals right now," I tell her.

She rinses her mouth with water from the sink. "Breakfast was not a priority for me this morning."

"No, stealing my SUV and meeting with my brother was."

"Iborrowedit."

"Without my consent." She needs her own car though.

And as soon as I'm not sure she'll use it to run, I'll have Orion sign the title to his G-Wagon over to her.

"Do you see a chop shop anywhere around here? I didn't steal it, but I can drop it in one of the gang neighborhoods for you if you want."

My gut clenches. "You aren't going anywhere like that alone."
