"There aren't," Zeus himself affirms.

Bobby shuts the door behind us. "But the boss won't take any chances with you."

This over-the-top protectiveness is for me. I shudder to imagine what he'll be like once our baby is born. I'm thinking helicopter dad with an automatic rifle.

"I'll take Lucia to the saferoom," Zeus says. "Timio has some intel for you, Dimios."

Executioner. That's what that means. I do a quick internal check, but the reminder that Atlas is an assassin doesn't impact my feelings for him at all.

"He can tell me on the way to the saferoom." Atlas is serious about seeing me there with his own eyes before he's willing to go hunting.

"You don't trust me to see to her safety?" Zeus asks.

"If I had no other choice, you are one of a few I would trust. But I do have a choice and I will not leaveĆlios mou'ssafety to anyone else."

Zeus nods. "Protect your sun well, brother. Our souls are darker than Hades' Lair."

Tears prick my eyes. These pregnancy hormones really are a bitch. But Zeus sounds resigned to an immutable truth. Like Atlas did when we first met.

Atlas takes me by the hand and leads me down the hall toward Zeus's office, but we stop halfway there and he slides a picture upward and puts his hand on a scanner pad. The once seamless wall slides outward and the next scanner is for his eye.

He then tugs me forward. "Try not to blink so it can scan your eye for access, agape mou."

Once the heavy door swings outward, he pulls it wide enough for me to step through the opening. Inside, is a smaller version of his suite upstairs without the kitchenette, though there is a microwave and a minifridge.

Gina is sitting on the small couch watching something on her phone. She looks up with a smile. "You hanging out with me while they get whatever sorted?"

I nod.

"Theo will be staying too," Atlas says from the open doorway.

"No." The word comes out louder than I intend. "You need him with you. We'll be fine here on our own."

Atlas shakes his head. "I am gold level good at what I do, remember? I don't need Theo with me, but I do need to know you are safe so I can concentrate on doing my job."

I can't help noticing he's a lot more circumspect about what that job is in front of the housekeeper. It surprises me, but I don't comment on it. If the brothers and cousins don't tell her all the details of their business, I'm not going to point that out.

Zeus would preferIdidn't know the nitty gritty details either. Too bad for him.

If Atlas and I have any chance at a future, it will not be with him treating me like a mushroom. Keeping me in the dark and smothering me with shit to cover what's really happening.

Atlas turns to go.

"Atlas!"

He stops and faces me. "I will be fine, agape mou."

"I know." He has to be. There is no other option. "When Tino left that night to go into work, he didn't kiss me goodbye."

Atlas's eyes flare with emotion. "You want me to kiss you?"

"Yes."

"I thought she hated his guts." Orion says from the hallway.

The snarky brother has joined them. Good. I want as many people watching Atlas's back as possible.

Atlas ignores his brother and cups my face with both hands. "Remember to eat something."
