“You wanna tell me about your book?”

“It’s…uhm…not a conventional romance,” I stutter.

“So? If you love it, I want to know about it. Tell me.”

And I do. I get into all nooks and crannies of the story, spilling the tea, laughing, and joking. He laughs too and makes these funny gasping sounds when the story gets to some interesting parts. I am sucked into his reaction to it and don’t even notice that I’m slowly drifting off.

***

Gentle kisses wake me up at some point.

Lips all over my nose, my eyes, my cheeks and chin, as Noah’s long, silky hair caresses my skin in their wake.

I would gladly make a deal with the devil just so I could be woken up like this every single morning for the rest of my life.

My soul would be worth it. Anything would be worth it.

“Wake up, gorgeous. It’s almost 2pm.”

I snap my eyes open, jolting upright, almost smashing my forehead into his.

“Woah, woah, woah!” he chuckles. “Easyyy, it’s Friday. You don’t work today.”

“Yeah, I know, but, Noah, my kitten?!” I say, my eyes bulging out of my head. I was supposed to pick Toma up at ten.

“I took care of that already.” He rubs his nose on mine at the same time my black ball of fur rubs her head into my elbow. “Maria called at 9:30, I answered. She wanted to confirm the pickup time, and since you were asleep, I decided to go get our girl.”

The way he saysour girllooking at Toma makes my heart melt.

“Thank you! Thank you!Thank youuu!” I whine, squeezing him around the waist.

He nuzzles his chin into the crook of my neck and kisses the skin there.

“You know I would do anything for you, right? That being said, breakfast and lunch are in the fridge, so I guess that means brunch for you?” Noah winks at me. “I did some rearranging, and put a coffee table next to the window. And there’s a surprise waiting for you on it and next to it.”

“What?” I ask, confused. A surprise? When did he do all that? Did he even sleep after he came to get me?

“You’ll see! I gotta run now, we are doing the monthly inventory lists today.”

He gets off the bed and bends down to kiss my forehead.

“Can we pick you up from work and take you back to my place?”

“Sure, but it might be late. You know how these things go.”

He kisses me once more, and literally runs to the door. I fall back onto the bed the moment I hear the lock turn and grab my little devil.

She purrs as I spin her around and tickle her. We play, and play, until my stomach starts to rumble so loud that even she notices. Pulling one of Noah’s shirts over my head, I walk to the bathroom as Toma skips behind me.

He is taller than me, but his tees fit me. I don’t drown in them like those girls in the movies or in the books. They fit snugly around my waist, and even stretch a bit on my hips and boobs.

I feel the moment bulimia hits again.

You should starve for a bit, you know?

It would be so much better if you skipped a few meals.

Mom was right. You are so fat. Starve.
