McCall:That’s great, man. I’m excited to have you home. Is there anything I need to do? Anything you or your momma need? I think my mom is planning to stock your fridge with groceries, and your freezer with meals so you guys don’t need to worry about cooking.

Booker:I appreciate that, thank you.

McCall:Macie has been selling your momma’s chickens’ eggs at her school. She said there were too many to even give them all away. She had me put the jar of cash on your kitchen table.

Booker:That was sweet, although I think my mom usually donates them to the food pantry. Use the money for groceries.

McCall:Nah, groceries are on us. How about I use the cash to get you some new sheets. Your room still looks like a kid lives there. Sometimes I forget you really haven’t been home for four years.

Booker:I was lucky you guys were always willing to let me fly you out to where I was.

McCall:We understood why you were staying gone, even if we didn’t agree with it.

Booker:I’m excited to come home.

McCall:Excited to try for more than coming in your hand over text messages.

Booker:She told you?

McCall:I’m her best friend. Of course she told me. Good job, cuz. She seemed thoroughly impressed.

Booker:I’ll be a lucky man if she lets me touch her for real.

McCall:She will, eventually.

Booker + Macie

Booker:I come home next week. I’m hoping I’ll be there by Friday.

Macie:Wow. I can’t believe you’re really going to be here. It seems surreal.

Booker:Does that mean you’ll come see me?

Macie:Probably.

Booker:Still at probably? I guess I’ll take it. I’d rather hear that than no chance in hell, asshole. Which, I'm pretty sure, is where we started.

Macie:What will life look like for you once you’re home?

Booker:I’m not entirely sure to be honest. I still have some healing to do. Physical and occupational therapy. But basically, I’m retired from the Marines. I’m going to start receiving disability compensation, and the PT and OT is covered by the VA. I didn’t spend much money all the years I was in, so…I have bank, but it’s not like me to sit around and do nothing. I was thinking I could flip houses, or try farming like McCall’s dad.

Macie:You want to work with your hands.

Booker:I’m good with my hands. You of all people should remember, baby.

Macie:That all you want? I make you come in your hand once and now you want dirty texts every day?

Booker:I want it all, Macie girl. I want anything you’re willing to give me. I want your good days and your bad. I want your orgasms and your smiles. I want to wake up beside you, no sneaking out necessary.

Macie:We’ll see.

Booker:I’ll take it.

Macie + Booker

Macie:You awake?

Booker:I am now, baby.
