Booker:That’s my girl.

Macie:Don’t push your luck.

Booker:I beat him up, that kid.

Macie:You did not.

Booker:I did. I waited until you ran home to your mom and I tackled him to the ground and gave him a bloody nose. I told him if he ever touched you again I was going to use my Swiss Army knife to cut off his fat fingers.

Macie:My knight in shining armor, and I didn’t even know it.

Booker:I was drawn to you from day one. I wanted to be everything you needed me to be.

Macie:You were, Booker. You were everything everyone needed you to be. You took care of your momma, you looked after McCall. You were by my side every single day, until you weren’t.

Booker:I came to your house to check on you after that, I followed a tiny trail of blood drops for a ways. I was so worried about you. But then when I buzzed the house, Jeeves told me I wasn’t an approved guest and wouldn’t let me in through those damn fancy gates. I’d never been turned away like that before. I’d never been treated as a nuisance. I was a poor boy breaking into the rich girl’s house under her daddy’s nose. Should’ve known then that your parents would never be my biggest fan.

Macie:Jeeves. He always hated that nickname.

Booker:He always hated me.

Macie:Well, you were always sneaking in and out behind his back. Like that day, the first time you snuck into my window. Now it makes sense, why your shirt was torn and you were covered in sand.

Booker:That gate was imposing as hell, but the fence around back left much to be desired. And who puts their daughter in a room with a perfectly good climbing tree right out her window? Your daddy was asking for me to sneak in.

Macie:Yeah? I think he’d beg to differ.

Booker:You told me to wash up, I used your soap, and being in your room had my heart racing. I was eleven, but I was already in love.

Macie:In love? You told me my room was too pink and my soap smelled like dead flowers and moldy cookies.

Booker:I couldn’t let you know how infatuated I was. I was trying to play it cool.

Macie:I kicked you out and told you to come back when you could learn some manners.

Booker:I cried the whole walk home.

Macie:You didn’t.

Booker:No, I didn’t. But getting kicked out of your room hurt more than I cared to admit.

Macie:The one and only time I ever kicked you out, if I recall correctly.

Booker:Yeah, after that day you were always begging me to stay longer.

Macie:Still cocky, I see.

Booker:Baby, the memory of you begging me in that pink bedroom of yours… Fuck, it still makes me hard.

Macie:Don’t push your luck.

Booker:I’ll talk to you tomorrow, Macie girl, it’s time for my pain meds.

McCall + Booker

McCall:It’s done.

Booker:Thanks, man.
