Lie, but they don’t need to know that I’m barely working right now.

Cora:So, who is this Jon, and do I need to send Mike down there to talk with him?

Cora’s husband is a Department of Public Safety Officer. I roll my eyes. Maybe I should have just texted our brother Fritz. Amazingly, he is not overbearing like my sisters.

Me:No.

Liv:I talked to Nancy. She said Jon’s got his issues, but he’s a good guy.

Me:What issues?

Cora:And do they involve a well in his basement where he lowers the lotion for his captives to use?

I can’t help the smile. Cora has always been the smart ass of the family. I mean, we all are, but she’s like the queen.

Liv:No. He’s a computer expert who has issues with people.

Cora:Like killing them?

Before I can type out a response, my phone rings. It’s Liv.

“What? We were texting.”

“It’s hard to have a conversation with Cora after she has a run-in with Bitsy. She gets really sassy.”

“Yeah.” I snort. “But it’s always fun taking her out drinking after those run-ins.”

She ignores my comment. “So, tell me, what was the SOS for?”

I sigh. “You know I don’t like people in my space.”

“Not true. Every time I visited you in college, you had a ton of people around.”

I hate my family.

“People I liked.”

“So, you don’t like him. Come and stay with me. Or stay with Mason.”

Liv’s boyfriend lives next door to her.

“Yeah, that would so be something Mason would like.”

I hear a murmur, and I smile. “Got company this morning?”

She sighs. “He just returned from taking the kids to school. He was here to make them breakfast. And stop trying to change the subject.”

“I…I have a problem.”

“What’s that?”

I close my eyes. I should have texted this because it’s embarrassing to admit to my sister out loud.

“I might find him attractive.”

“Well, yeah.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”
