I raced down the hall and grabbed my phone out of Ella’s room.

“Grace? Is everything okay?” she asked as I ran out of the room.

I nodded my head, but I was certain she wasn’t convinced. I called Dylan, but there was no answer. So I called him again. And again. And again.

I found Jonas relaxing on a sofa with some of the groomsmen, and I pulled him aside to tell him what was going on.

“Can you call him, please? He’s not answering for me.”

“Yeah, of course.”

Jonas repeatedly called Dylan, but still no answer. The panic and anxiety was starting to set in, and I wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep my cool.

“Should we go up to his room?” Jonas suggested, “maybe he’s in the shower or something.”

“No! Um…no. I saw him a while ago and he was already dressed.”

“Well, he could still be up there.”

My heart was racing. If Jonas went up to our suite, he would see my stuff thrown all over the room. And word would definitely make its way back to Ella, which is not how I wanted her to find out about us.

“I’ll go check his room. Why don’t you go, um, check the gym or something?”

“I thought you said he was already dressed.”

“Right, uh, okay. How about you check the restaurant. Or the bars. Maybe he just lost track of time.”

Jonas nodded as we parted ways, and I started racing down the hall to the elevators.

“Grace!” Ella called out as I passed her room, “what’s going on?”

“Nothing—uh—everything is fine.”

“Then why do you look like you’re going to throw up?”

“Do I?” I asked, trying to calm my voice.

“Can you come in here with me? I’m just, like, kind of freaking out a little bit.”

“I really need to go check on something.”

“Please, Grace? I need you.”

I sighed and walked into the room with her. Ella closed the door behind us and picked up another mimosa.

“I don’t think you need another one of those,” I said, taking the glass from her hand before she could manage a sip.

“Where’s Dylan? I thought you were going to get him.”

“I tried but, um, he’s not here yet.”

I figured there was no sense in lying about it. Unless Dylan walked through the door right that second, there was no way I was going to be able to keep that from Ella.

“What? What do you mean he’s not here?”

“I can’t find him.”

“Well, did you try calling him?”
