Rhett put the blankets on the floor, sat down, and removed his boots. He laid back and put his arms under his head. When he heard her sigh, he smiled.

“Not much to do in these situations, is there?”

“I just hate sitting around, waiting to see what it’s going to do.”

“We could make out.” He tried not to laugh.

She threw a couch pillow at him. He dodged it and laughed.

“Just a thought.”

“I have a Monopoly game.” She got to her feet and left the room.

Monopoly was the last thing he wanted to play. He’d rather play with her.

“I got it. Be prepared to lose all your properties, Morrison,” she said when she reentered the room.

“We’ll see about that,” he said with a grin.

They played for a few hours, and Rhett won each time.

“We should have played strip Monopoly. You’d be naked by now.” He wiggled his eyebrows at her, making her laugh. “By the way, why don’t you have your tree up yet?”

“I’m running behind on it. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time to get one.”

“I haven’t gotten mine yet, either. I need to make a trip to Nick’s.”

“Me too.”

“We could go together. I can help you with yours.”

“That sounds nice. We’ll plan that.” She yawned. “Sorry. I’m exhausted. I think I’ll try to get some sleep.”

Rhett nodded. “Yeah, me too. See you in the morning. I like my eggs over easy.”

“You’ll get them easy over your head,” she muttered.

He chuckled and removed his shirt. He saw her staring at his chest with her mouth hanging open.

“Stop looking at me like that, Cin.”

Her eyes flew to his face, and he watched a blush move across her cheeks. Then she laid down on the couch and turned her back to him.

“You should be glad it was only my shirt. I usually sleep nude.” He laughed when she threw another pillow at him.

Noises from the kitchen awoke Lucinda. She stretched and yawned, then looked out the window. The snow wasn’t deep, and the sun shone down brightly. She glanced to where Rhett had slept and saw the blankets in the chair folded with the pillow on them. She headed to the kitchen, leaned against the doorjamb, and watched him going through the cupboards. He had his back to her, and her eyes wandered over him. His T-shirt hugged his broad back, and his Wranglers hugged his butt. He turned around to face her.

“Good morning,” he said.

She smiled. “Morning. What’re you looking for?”

“Coffee. I need coffee.” He frowned.

“The K-Cups are in the pantry; I filled the water reservoir last night. The night before, I usually get everything ready. I make sure there’s water and my K-cup is in there, and all I have to do is turn it on and press brew. I have to have my coffee too.”

Rhett leaned against the counter, folded his arms, and stared at her, making her blush.
