“I’ve always called her that.” Rhett knew Nate was grinning because he already knew.

“Come inside before you freeze the girl to death,” their dad said from the doorway.

“Thank you. I’m freezing.” Cin put her hand out to his dad. “Cinda Williams, Mr. Morrison.”

“Call me Nathanial. It’s nice to meet you, Cinda. Come meet my wife, Beatrice.”

“Yes, sir.”

Rhett watched her follow his father into the house, and he looked at Nate.

“She’s pretty.” Nate folded his arms.

“Very.”

“Is it serious?”

“Getting there. Damn, Nate. All I think about is her.”

“Yep. Getting there. Come on. Mom’s eager to see you, and I don’t feel like freezing my balls off.”

Rhett chuckled. “Me neither.”

When he entered the house, his mother hugged him, and he wrapped his arms around her.

“I’m so glad you came and brought Cinda.”

“We’re happy to be here.” He looked toward the living room. “Did you leave the tree for us?”

“Of course.” His mother laughed.

“Mom wants us to decorate the tree. We can do that later.”

“I’d love it.” Cin smiled.

“This is my sister-in-law, Penelope. Don’t ask me why she married Nate, because we haven’t figured that out yet.” Rhett chuckled when Penelope swatted at him. “Penelope, Cinda Williams.”

“It’s nice to meet you. I’m sorry I was putting the kids down upstairs when you came inside.”

“It’s fine. It’s nice to meet you. I can’t wait to meet your kids.”

“You’ll change your mind when they’re screaming.” Nate shook his head.

“How old are they?”

“Nineteen months and holy terrors,” Nate said.

“Stop, Nathanial Anthony Morrison, Junior,” Penelope said in mock anger, making them laugh.

“I know I’m in trouble when she uses my middle name.”

“You, Nathanial Morrison, are always in trouble.”

Nate grabbed Penelope around the waist and pulled her close, making her laugh.

“But you love me, darlin’.”

“Good thing.”
