He leaned down, his breath hitting the back of my neck now as he chuckled. “Your wish is my command. But only because the sound of you begging is too good to pass up.”

Then his arm wound around my waist and he lifted me a hair, pushing me forward onto the table as he sheathed himself in one hard thrust. Nerves lit up like fireworks and I scrambled for a handhold, my eyes rolling back when he pulled out and slammed back in.

The table rocked underneath us, only his grip at my waist keeping me still as I stood on tiptoes and rocked back in time with each thrust. The wet slap of skin on skin mixed with my moans and his grunts, cutting through the silence of the kitchen as he picked up his pace.

His hand dropped between my legs, rubbing the nub at my entrance until white overtook my vision. I wasn’t going to last much longer, and he must have sensed that because he slowed down. His thrusts turned from sharp and hurried to slow, each one pressing deep before pulling away inch by agonizing inch.

I squirmed, needing more, but he held me in place, talented fingers knowing just when to stop before I toppled over the edge. Every brush of him against my walls threatened to push me over now and I writhed against him, needing that last bit of friction like I needed air.

He twitched threateningly, the pulse picking up as he thickened impossibly further. My head spun from it, and just as I thought it would swallow me whole, he finally picked up his pace.

Shifting his grip to my hips, he hammered home, bottoming out on every thrust as he yanked me back onto him. His hips twisted, grinding hard against something swollen, and shooting sparks through my nerves until it was all I could do to breathe through it.

His hand at my nub picked up its pace, too, rocking me into him and tracing small circles until finally I shattered. Clamping around him like a vice, I felt his hips shudder, his rhythm falling away as he rutted with a single-minded purpose.

His length thickened, hips pressing against mine, but just before he shot off he yanked away with a snarl. Through the pleasured haze, I felt him let go, shots of his essence hitting the back of my thighs as he shuddered through his climax.

When he finished with the last of the aftershocks, he pressed his forehead to my neck and groaned. “That was too close.”

It took my numb brain a few extra minutes to piece together what he meant, but when I felt the warmth slowly trailing over my skin, it clicked. We’d forgotten the condom.

I’dneverforgotten a condom before.

If he hadn’t remembered and pulled out, we could have been in seriously hot water.

Relief twinged alongside the leftover shards of pleasure and I turned to face him, pressing his head further into my throat with a shaky sigh.

“I’m glad you remembered, because I certainly didn’t. I was too busy feeling my brain leak out of my ear.”

If he’d mentioned the condom while I was that close I might not have even cared, though I would have later if there’d been lasting consequences.

He chuckled, the sound shaky as he leaned across the table to grab the paper napkins. “I wasn’t far behind you. If it weren’t for how different it feels, I probably wouldn’t have remembered either.”

Then he groaned, pressing his face further into my neck. “You aresodangerous. In the years I’ve been active in these kinds of things I’ve never once forgotten a condom.”

I snorted, trailing my fingers through his hair. “Trust me, it wasn’t just you.” A beat passed, and then I asked. “What exactly put you in such a …energetic mood today? Usually you’re too tired to start things this early.”

He hummed; the sleepy sound more like what I’d expected from him at this hour. “Usually, yeah, but I walked in to see you in a nightgown dancing around the kitchen. I…” He trailed off, something more hidden under his tone as uncertainty inched in.

I didn’t like that, how he hesitated as if anything he said could make me push him away, and when he didn’t continue after a minute I prodded. “You can tell me anything, Oliver.”

He bit his lip, pulling out of my neck until he met my eyes. There was an ache there, one that I didn’t have a name for, and finally he sighed. “I just had this image of us in a few years, doing this exact thing. Before now, I’ve never really considered the future. I have my hands full working with the present. Picturing you dancing around the kitchen feels right though, and no matter how many years pass, that’s not going to change.”

Oh.

My heart turned to goo and when nerves inched into his features, I cut them off with a kiss. He eased into it, some of his tension leaving, and when we pulled back, I smiled.

“There’s nothing wrong with envisioning the future. I didn’t used to either, but I’ll admit that I’ve been considering it lately too.”

Namely, staying here with Oliver even after the whole Harvey thing was handled. I could see this becoming my normal life. Just like he could imagine me dancing in the kitchen for the rest of our lives, I could see us curled in bed, enjoying the lazy mornings.

I could see a future with him so clearly that it almost hurt to imagine it.

Cupping my hands around his jaw, I leaned my head against his and spoke. “You asked me when we first started dating if I would stay.”

He tensed; hope flaring hot behind his eyes as he waited for me to continue. After a beat, I did. My smile took over until my cheeks hurt from how big it was.

“I’m staying. There’s nothing where I came from holding me there and all the reasons in the world to be here. I can see a future with you, and I’m not spending a minute of it away from you when I don’t have to be.”
