Druza gasps with emotion as tears wet her cheeks, “I love you Haldor, I never thought that I would find someone like you, someone that gives me the life that I only dreamed of, someone that freed me from a life of oppression and crime, you have given me freedom and even though we are now running for our lives, I will rather run with you than be safe without you.”

Her words touch me deeply, a knot building in my throat with emotion. Wrapping my arms around her I pull her tight against my chest. Feeling her love surround me, her warmth ignite the life deep within me to fight, to live, to conquer.

My heart is racing as I rush towards the helicopter, some of the others already sitting inside as the men help us in. Haldor is right behind me holding the traveling bag that I filled with clothes. I am scared that I have so recently found Haldor and so soon I might lose him. I hate the fact that people are so scared about something that they don’t know that we are threatened instead of understood.

“Are you coming with us now?” I ask as I glance behind me as he lifts me into the chopper.

“Yes, Tal and Dag too,” Haldor explains as he jumps in.

“How are the others going?” Siena asks as she looks out of the chopper looking like she is about to jump out.

“The other chopper is on its way, they will be leaving in the next couple of minutes,” Tal explains as he motions for the pilot to take off. Haldor takes my hand, soothing my anxiety with his calming touch. I look at the women sitting around me, their expressions one of fear. I am lucky that Haldor is flying with us, the others will be worried that their mates might not make it.

I pray that we all get to our destination quickly and safely. I have not known this life for long, but I know that it’s the type of life that I want, that I will live and die for the man next to me. He has given me a chance at a new life and even if that is just a short dream, I am thankful for being his mate.

We are running for our lives, are unsure of what the future has in store for any of us. The Elementals are at the end of the life that they were used to and a new chapter is unfolding in their story. May Haldor and my life be long and filled with love, I was prepared to integrate into the life that Haldor offered me. Now everything has changed, and I can feel the anger vibrating from the three men that are sitting stiffly with us.

I close my eyes, hiding the tears of frustration, of worry that fills me. I wonder if this new life will keep us safe. Suddenly an image explodes behind my eyes surprising me as I have never been able to see anything related to me. I see mountains spread before me, the view is breathtaking. Looking behind me I am surprised to see what looks like a door set into the wall of a mountain. Looking beyond the door there are lights shining, lighting up what looks like a wide entrance are. A feeling of contentment, of hope surrounds me as I see people inside talking.

I smile as I open my eyes, looking around I want to shout that everything is going to be okay but I don’t know if it will. All I know is that there will be peace and contentment, but if everyone is there I can’t say.

Squeezing Haldor’s hand, I look at him as he turns his head to look at me. “I love you,” I say, “Everything is going to be okay,” he raises a brow in question a second later his lips are kicking up in a smile.

Today is the first day of our new adventure, our future will be what we make of it. One thing I am certain of is that Haldor loves me, the freedom that I was so desperately looking for throughout my life is the love that Haldor has unlocked within me.

I am blessed to be an Elementals mate!

The End.
