Nikolai.

He stands at the door, leaning against it, watching me behind lowered lids. A fine dust of dark stubble peppers his lean face, his three-piece suit immaculate, and my heart lurches.

Nikolai is perfect; hard-bodied, tall, lean, gorgeous. Beyond that, he’s smart, full of a darkness I won’t ever pretend isn’t there. He’s a rocky, treacherous terrain, unforgiving and dangerous, but inside that glimmers light and sweet, hidden places.

Perfectly imperfect perfection.

And he’s mine.

“So, Rose, I’m thinking we’re in New York, and tomorrow I have to do some things. I just got a text from our friend from earlier. She wants something on one Mr. Milovic. I don’t know him, but I believe one of my holdings has business with him. And Rush—”

“Is he okay?”

“A misunderstanding that’s been sorted.”

I nod, every fiber tuned into him, into what this conversation is beneath the surface.

He’s worked it out, a way to get Rush under his protection again—not that Rush needs it, I don’t think, but this is Nikolai, and Rush is family. He won’t stop worrying until Rush is in his protective circle.

Though I see that, know it, I lose hold of decent resolve when he slowly smiles.

“Good,” I say, breathing hard as his gaze starts to heat. “He’s a good man.”

“Man is pushing it, but let’s forget all that.” He straightens, moving slowly toward me, a wild cat taking its time getting to its prey. “I’m taking you out.”

“You are?”

He stops in front of me and loosens his tie, pulling it off. “Close your eyes, Rose.”

I do, and he reaches out, smoothing my hair from my nape. Then something soft, confining, comes down over my eyes. His tie. My heart beats faster as he knots it behind my head, his warm breath on my cheek.

“Yes, sir,” I breathe out.

“I’m glad, Rose, that you’re into obeying, but I’m not giving you any chances, am I?”

Nikolai’s right behind me, the heat of him seeping into my skin, playing a game. He’s playing with me, with whoever’s listening, and—

A sharp thrill knifes through my chest, straight down to my pussy.

Is he putting on a show?

My breath comes not just hard, but uneven, too.

“Smart.” Slipping his fingers across my shoulders, he glides beneath the straps of my dress and, flesh on flesh, slips it down both arms until it’s pooling at my feet. “Tell me about your business plans.”

He fractures my thoughts with a touch across my lace-covered nipples, trailing down to the front clasp of my bra, and I try to focus.

“I want…I wanted to use my—” I gasp as the cups come loose and he moves one hand down to my belly, the other up to twist a now-free nipple before he pulls the material away. Then he’s back, pressed against me, and coherent thought’s almost impossible as his hand heads south.

“Your inheritance?”

“Yessss…” The word is a hiss as he slips a hand into my panties to cup my sex, and I try to rock onto his hand. “I want to have a nice upscale…b-bar… M-My…oh…”

He doesn’t let me move; instead, he grinds his hand up against my clit, sending a shimmer of pleasure through me before he pulls the panties down to my knees.

“Step out of them. Now.”

I do as ordered, slowly so as not to trip with the blindfold still in place, and he just strokes his hand over me, keeping me there, steady as every sense climbs high, aching for whatever he’s going to do.
