Fuck, I love this woman.

“What if me being me makes you run?”

She snorts a laugh. “You’ve kidnapped me, threatened me with terrible things, and I never ran. I watched you murder a lot of people in cold blood. I didn’t run. You being you doesn’t make me love you more or less. It just makes me love you.”

“Rose…”

She drops her forehead against mine. “Rush thinks you’re secretly a decent person with a cuddly center. He loves you. He thinks I’m saving you.”

I kiss her softly. “You are.”

“Not how he thinks. I do it in the way you save me. You see and love me for what I am. You helped me find my strength, the darkness, but that’s not why you love me. You love me because I’m Rose, and I’m your other half. I love it all, Niko. How you are now. You. The good and the bad.”

I nod. Mulling it over. Rose sees me and loves me for it. To her, it doesn’t matter. She sees the darkness and loves it, as much as she loves the softness I think might only exist for her.

I take a deep breath. “I’ll tell you one other thing. With you, and only with you, I’m your Niko.”

Her breathing stops as she stares at me, then a tear falls, and she gives a sob of a smile. “We’re going to have to tell Rush that the nickname’s been taken permanently, then.” A small chuckle escapes, and I smile. “I love you, Niko.”

I kiss her reverently. “You’re my heart, Rose. The best of me.”

I hold her, the woman I’d burn the world for, the woman I’ve just given the softest, most vulnerable parts of myself to.

My heart.

My love.

My forever.

My Rose.

THE END
