His hands moved to my ass and squeezed. “And when will I get one from the famous Emilia Mendoza?”

“Hmm. Maybe if the kids go to sleep early enough and you can imagine the music in your head so we won’t wake them, you’ll get lucky tonight.”

He nipped my bottom lip. “Well, let’s go finish that fucking game of Monopoly so we can start the bedtime routine, then.”

“You’re going to lose on purpose, maybe even cheat to do it.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Do you want to play until two in the morning?”

“Fair point.”

He chuckled, released me, and headed for the door. “Come on. Let’s get it over with. I’m sure they’ve hidden my money under the board by now too.”

I laughed as we headed back inside. “Well, if it makes the game end sooner, I’m all for it.”

He lightly slapped my ass. “I see how it’s going to be—the three of you against me, always.”

“Maybe not always.”

As we smiled at each other and then focused on finishing the game of Monopoly, my head buzzed with everything I still wanted to say to my brother. He had texted me, so at least I could contact Rafe that way.

But soon we got the kids ready for bed, made up a bedtime story—about a unicorn and frog, to tie in with their birthday decorations—and then I forgot about everything but giving my man a private lap dance. One that ended with me riding his cock and swallowing his groan with a kiss as he came inside me.

ChapterForty-Six

Weston

Emmy:I still can’t believe Katie started a brand-new soccer club in Starry Hills just for Wyatt.

Me:Neither can I. Now I have to be extra nice to her.

Emmy:It’s not that hard. I think she’s trying to grow up a little and change her image. She even had Nolan smiling at the birthday party.

Me:I noticed them talking too. Which was weird because Katie always said Nolan was the most boring Wolfe sibling.

Emmy:Hey! That’s not very nice!

Me:It’s the truth. Not that I think he’s boring. But she said it all the time growing up.

Emmy:Well, Nolan’s just shy, and maybe Katie finally figured that out.

Me:Maybe. At any rate, are the kids and I still invited for dinner tonight?

Emmy:Of course. You’re going to be scouting the pastures today?

Me:Yeah. As soon as the lawsuit is over, I want to hit the ground running with the ranch.

Emmy:And you’re going to nail it too.

After trekking through yet another pasture, I finally wiped the sweat off my brow and headed back toward Emmy’s house. I now had a better idea of which areas to use first, which were the perfect balance of good grazing areas and enough distance from the house.

In the two weeks since my kids’ birthday party—which was still the talk of the kids of the town—I’d been dividing my time between helping out Beck and forming a business plan for the ranch.

Talking to Beck and turning down his offer to be a bigger part of the family business had been hard, but he understood my heart wasn’t in it like his and Zach’s. As long as I didn’t run away, he didn’t care what I did. Oh, and once he finally got his dream restaurant up and running someday, I’d have to give him a discount on prime cuts of beef.

Having my family’s support and faith in me meant more than I thought it would.

Things with Emmy were also going good, so fucking good, and if only this bullshit custody case would end, then I could start creating the future I wanted with her.
