“Oh, that will be any time we can manage, but I think we can specify a night every two weeks to spend just the two of us.”

“I like the sound of that.” They embraced and shared a long kiss before going to pick up the children at school and bringing them home for the night. They spent the evening hanging out and watching movies.

But he could hardly focus on the show. He found himself constantly gazing at Mia over the top of the twins’ heads, studying her with a contented smile on his face.

They had been through hell to get here, but it felt like their happily ever after was finally coming true … for all four of them.

TWENTY-SEVEN

MIA

She stood in the white dress, really the only human part of the wedding they were having. She ran her fingers over the lace and down the bodice, feeling her stomach flip once more.

She was marrying Tharon. She was really marrying him. She was settling on Tor'via and leaving Earth officially.

Her life had changed a lot since making the decision to stay on Tor’via, but she was looking forward to it, as well. She was going to be a mother, even if the Tor’vian culture didn’t have a title for what she did for the children and as a wife. It was a future she looked forward to having.

There was a soft knock on the door, and Rusang poked his head into the room. He held a gentle smile, and she tried not to stiffen too much. While Rusang wasn’t the sibling who tried to murder her, she still was trying to pull herself back together since the incident.

“You look breathtaking,” he said, stepping into the room. “Tharon wanted me to check on you. He said he wasn’t allowed to see you until we decided to depart.”

She chuckled, feeling grateful that Tharon agreed to her human ways of having the wedding. When Tharon told her that on Tor’vian, they fly around throwing flower petals out as a sign of marriage, she was a little surprised. She was more surprised when he said they really didn’t have ceremonies.

So, when she asked to at least have something small, he’d agreed.

“Yeah, I was just making sure the dress was fine before leaving. Is he outside waiting?”

He nodded, extending his arm out for her. She took it, giving him a smile. “You must think this is silly.”

He shook his head. “Not at all. On Tor’via, we do things differently. Really, when we had that dinner, that was the wedding. Tharon saying that he had decided to take you as his mate is all it takes to make it official. This is all for everyone else to know.”

"Thank you for agreeing to join us," she said, clinging onto his arm. "It means a lot to us."

Things were a little tense with his family since his sister’s confession. Tharon was hurt but trying to move past everything.

They headed down the hallway toward the front door. She heard chatter as they walked, her heart in her mouth as they stepped outside.

Cian and Triat were standing by the Tharon. There was a large glider behind them that they would be in as they traveled.

Tharon was laughing at something they said before they all looked up as Rusang cleared his throat. Cian’s eyes grew wide. “You look beautiful," she squealed.

Triat stumbled for words, his mouth hanging open in shock. He pulled at his shirt, trying to stand up straighter. Cian and he were dressed up for the occasion as well.

Tharon inhaled slowly, and she watched his throat bob before he smiled at her. It was a giant, loving smile. “I agree with the kids.”

He came over and pulled her into his arms. She inhaled his scent, allowing herself to bask in the moment. He chuckled into her ear.

“You ready for this?”

“I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.”

The kids jumped into the vehicle first, allowing them to climb in after them. One of Tharon’s men drove as Tharon rolled down his window. She peeked outside, looking down the road.

Her eyes grew wide, taking in the fact that the street was packed with people. She looked back at Tharon. “There are so many people.”

He looked at her, raising an eyebrow. “Yeah, did you not think there would be?”

She chewed on her cheek. “Well, I figured this was a common practice and that people didn’t line the streets like it was a parade.”
