I froze upon hearing Sergey’s name. “Sergey?” My heart thundered fast. This was going to be one hell of a day.

Vlad ignored my question and pointed to the dining room. “He’s in there with Lilianna and their daughter. Maxi’s absent though. He probably has his cock shoved up a chick’s ass.”

“Shut the fuck up or I’ll shove a gun up your throat, kid.” Maxim’s deep voice echoed in the foyer as he entered.

Jesus. Was making threats at each other their way of joking? That was an odd sense of humor.

Vlad chuckled as Maxim stood beside him. “My bad. I jumped to conclusions way too early.”

Maxim patted Vlad’s shoulder. “You weren’t wrong though. Fucked all night and couldn’t let her go this morning without getting a piece of her pussy.”

They both chuckled. “Careful, don’t want Vlad’s woman hearing the shit you’re saying,” Vlad whispered as if I wasn’t standing right in front of them.

“My bad.” Maxim smiled at me. “You don’t mind hearing stuff like this. You’re not a virgin, are you?”

I was still thinking of an answer when Nikolai broke in. “Shut your asses up and go to the dining room.”

Vlad winked at me before he and Maxim went away.

“My brothers are such idiots, don’t take the bullshit they say to mind,” Nikolai told me.

I nodded, not wanting to confront him about not telling me his entire family would be here this morning.

Lilianna’s face split into a broad smile when Nikolai and I entered the dining. She stood from her chair, walked up to me and hugged me. She smelled so sweet like vanilla, and I suddenly started craving vanilla cake. “How are you, sweetie?” She was probably the only normal person in this family.

I smiled back. “I’m fine. How are you?”

“Exhausted. My son—Oleg—just turned two and it’s been total chaos since he learned how to walk, even with all the nannies.” She placed her hand softly on my stomach. “You’ll understand what I mean when you have your baby.”

I huffed a laugh. “Is that a good or bad thing?”

“Good, I suppose. You smile watching them play. It’s the joy of being a parent.” She glanced at her husband. “Sergey and I are trying for another baby.”

“Eww. We could go forever without that piece of information,” Vlad yelled, stuffing a piece of chicken in his mouth.

“Too bad you know. Now you’ve got to live with it.” She led me to the table. “Come. Sit. I’m sure you’re exhausted.”

She pulled a chair for me between Nikolai and Vlad. I thanked her and tried to avoid eye contact with Sergey as I sat.

One of the maids served us our food.

“So, what was your life like before we kidnapped you, Giselle?” Vlad asked. He was too straightforward.

The room tensed, and my stomach churned with nerves.

Maxim slapped him on the head. “Fucking idiot. Why would you ask her something like that?”

“Ouch!” Vlad rubbed the spot where Maxim hit him. “I’m just curious.”

“I’m curious how good punching you would feel,” Sergey said. I noticed he wasn’t much of a talker. “How about you use your brain more than you use your mouth?”

The men chuckled.

“Hush, boys. Where are your table manners?” Lilianna called out.

I gaped at her, stunned she could speak to them that way. All the men on this table terrified me to my bones, Nikolai included, and she just talked to them like they were her kids.

“Don’t pay any attention to them, they’re just big babies,” she said to me, and then she continued eating.
