Sometimes, I loved to think we were made just for each other. We completed each other and when we were together, we were unstoppable.

And when we were in each other’s arms, we were all that mattered.

Epilogue - Giselle

Five months later

The hospital room was bathed in soft rays of light. It was almost evening, and the sun cast a yellow glow below the horizon outside, marking its exit for the day. It was a beautiful sight, but nothing compared to the happiness swelling in my chest as I looked at my babies. They were just an hour old. I couldn't believe I'd given life to two beautiful angels.

Nik stood beside their cots, regarding them with a mixture of fear and amusement. It hadn't dawned on him yet that he was a father, and could I blame it? It felt like a dream to me too. A smile cracked his lips open. "They're beautiful," he whispered, his tone the softest I had ever heard it. "Fuck, Giselle. They're perfect."

My eyes fogged with happy tears, and I smiled. "They are. We're parents, Nikolai. Can you believe it?"

"It still doesn't feel real."

One of the twins woke up, the one in the blue romper—Kiril. Their faces looked so similar, so I identified them by their clothes. His small cry echoed in the room. Nikolai glanced at me. "Can I hold him?"

I nodded. "Of course. He is your son, Nikolai. You don't need my permission to hold your son."

"I know, it's just…he looks so fragile. I'm afraid I'll break him."

I huffed a laugh. "Don't be silly, Nik. Hold him."

I looked on with amusement as Nikolai lowered his arms into the cot and carefully picked up Kiril. He was gentle, the gentlest I'd ever seen him. This man could be rough, fierce, and ruthless, but now he held his son with a tender touch.

"His feet and fingers are so tidy," he whispered, looking at Kiril as if he was a wonderful work of art. He was in every way. "He looks like you."

Kiril had my light-brown eyes and curly black hair. His sister had Nikolai's dark eyes and dark hair. The doctors said they were taller than most newborns, which meant they took Nikolai's height.

"Kira looks just like you too."

He glanced at Kira. She was sound asleep. "She does. I hope she acts nothing like me though."

We both chuckled.

We snapped our heads to the door when it slid open. Lilianna ran in with a bouquet of roses and gasped when she saw the twins. "Jesus. They're so beautiful." She walked to the bed, hugged me, and gave me the bouquet of roses. "You did so well, Giselle."

"Thank you." To be honest, it had only been easy because of the support I had around me. Nikolai barely left my side for a moment. Lilianna walked me through the stages of pregnancy, and I knew she'd help me through the stages of becoming a mother.

Sergey, Maxim, and Vlad were the overprotective uncles. They'd help raise Kiril to be a strong man just like them, and they would protect Kira with their lives.

Sergey walked in with Vlad. They both paused by the door, regarding their brother with a surprised expression as if they couldn't believe how gentle he was with Kiril.

My shoulders slouched because, for a moment, I'd forgotten Maxim wasn't in Chicago. He'd left for New York a few days after the gender reveal.

Vlad made his way to my bed and kissed my forehead. "You did great, sister-in-law."

Our relationship had gotten a lot better. He went with me wherever I needed to go when Nikolai was around. He'd prioritized my safety. "I have a surprise for you."

My brows quirked. "It's something silly, isn't it?"

He winked at me. "Why don't you find out yourself?" He walked to the door and slid it open.

My jaw fell to the ground when I saw Maxim standing outside and holding Sergey and Lilianna's son. I actually screamed, waking Kira. Lilianna picked her up from her cot.

I hugged Maxim when he walked to the bed.

"Did you think I'd miss my niece and nephew's first day on Earth? Never!"
