"I thought you wouldn't be able to make it."

He pulled away. "I'd walk through hell to earth so I didn't miss it. Congratulations on becoming a mother." He opened my palm and placed something in it.

When he removed his hand from mine, I gasped. "A car key?"

"A Urus Lamborghini," he said with a shrug. "We got it for you. It's yours."

I stared at the key in awe. "This is some sort of prank, isn't it?"

"You're a Vadim, you deserve more than a Lamborghini."

“It’s not just a Lamborghini, Max. It’s a Lamborghini Urus,” I said, almost screaming. A year ago, I wasn’t even rich enough to afford dinner at a fancy restaurant and now I own a Lamborghini Urus? And the fact that he thought of our new additions too when choosing is just a cherry on top.

It feels like a dream.

I put a hand over my mouth, blinking fast to hold back the tears prickling my eyes. "I'm so grateful." I sniffled, and my tears betrayed me.

"Awn." Lilianna sat on the bed with Kira in her arms and wrapped her other arm around me. "Don't cry, Giselle. I told you we're family, which is what family does."

"I know. It's just—" My emotions took over, and I trailed off. I never thought I would get to experience a love this deep. "Thank you."

"Mama, can I hold the baby?" Oleg asked, reaching for Kira.

All of us burst into uncontrollable laughter.

"She's your baby cousin, and she's fragile. You can only hold her when you're bigger and stronger."

Oleg pouted. "But I'm strong, mama."

"Yes, you are, sweet boy." Lilianna lowered Kira so Oleg could reach her. "How about you look at her instead."

Oleg touched Kira's nose and giggled. "She's cute."

We spent the rest of the evening chatting and having the boys take turns holding the babies. When they left, Nikolai and I were left holding the babies.

He sat on the edge of the bed with Kira in his hand, watching me in awe.

Our eyes locked, and heat caressed my cheeks. "What?"

He chuckled, his dark eyes sparkling. "What is it?"

"It's just the way you're looking at me, it's making me nervous. Are you that lovestruck?"

He inclined his head with a bopping motion. "I am. Thank you, Giselle. I'd never dreamed of becoming a father, and you, you didn't just teach me how to dream. You made my dreams a reality."

"We both taught each other how to dream, Nikolai. And we both made each other's dreams come true."

Our gazes remained locked for a moment before he reached out, tucked a strand of black hair behind my ear, and cupped my face. "I love you, dorogaya."

I huffed a soft chuckle. "Ya tozhe tebya lyublyu, dorogoy."

I love you too, dear.

As the evening turned into night, the soft glow of the sunset gave way to the soothing darkness of the room. I watched as Nikolai carefully placed Kira back in her cot, making sure she was comfortable and secure. His tenderness, the way he cradled our children in his strong but gentle arms, filled me with a warmth that had nothing to do with the ambient temperature in the room.

I lay back against the hospital bed, still feeling the lingering effects of childbirth. The exhaustion crept in, but it was a pleasant fatigue, one that came with the knowledge that our family had just expanded. It was surreal, the way life had transformed in the span of a few hours.

Nikolai joined me on the bed, his eyes never leaving mine. His fingers traced the contours of my face as if committing every detail to memory. "You know, Giselle," he began softly, "I used to think I was tough, unbreakable. But these little ones..." He glanced at the twins, who were now peacefully asleep in their cots. "They make me feel vulnerable in the best possible way."
