Jamie smiled at Dawn first, who glanced up to his face, then at Jeremy. “Years of experience,” he said, then shifted his smile to Aled.

Aled watched him with a look of awe and love that, paradoxically, had Jamie wanting to fall at his feet and give all of the heightened emotions swirling in him to his Sir.

“Can I…can I hug you?” Dawn asked in a tiny voice.

“Of course,” Jamie said.

Dawn took another shuddering breath, then threw herself into Jamie’s arms.

Normally, Jamie never would have hugged a student or a patient, if he’d been in private practice. There were laws and boundaries about those things, put in place to protect everyone. But Dawn felt like family to him, even though they’d just met, and he only wanted to help her.

“I like him,” Dawn said after a few, long moments, still hugging Jamie, but looking up at Aled. “Please keep him and marry him and make him one of the family.”

Aled laughed, and the tension of the scene was broken even more. “Well, we’ve only really just started seeing each other,” he said, blushing acutely.

Jamie could have sworn he heard the implied, “But I wouldn’t say no to spending the rest of my life with him,” hanging in the air. It was most definitely still early days, but entertaining the fantasy of finding your soulmate never hurt anyone.

“Um, if you all feel like you have things well in hand here, I think I’ll head home now,” Jeremy said.

That signaled the end of the emergency. From there, Jeremy left, and as soon as Dawn was fully calm and had reached the point of embarrassment and effusive apologies to both Aled and Jamie for being such a ninny, she shooed everyone out of her room so that she could clean herself up and go to bed. Jamie agreed that a good night’s sleep would probably work wonders.

“I’m sorry that things turned out this way,” Aled said once they were downstairs in the kitchen, enjoying some much-needed wine. “I don’t usually bring my subs home to provide top-notch psychological care to my family members.”

Jamie laughed out loud, leaning back against the kitchen counter. “It’s my pleasure. I care about you, and so I care about your family.”

“You do?” Aled asked, leaning against the perpendicular counter. He lowered his head a little and tilted it to the side in the most beautiful, vulnerable, flirtatious gesture. His blue eyes were filled with tenderness and hope. “Care about me, that is?”

“Yes,” Jamie said. He set his wine glass down, pushed away from the counter, and moved to stand in front of Aled. He rested one hand against Aled’s face and said, “I care about you very much.” He then leaned in and kissed Aled’s lips softly.

When he leaned back, Aled was grinning. “Does this mean you really are my boyfriend, then?”

Jamie chuckled and lowered his head, but he didn’t step back. He pinched his face a little when he looked up at Aled again. “It seems a little early for us to rush into labels,” he said. “Then again, when you meet under the sort of intense circumstances that we did, it speeds things up a bit.”

Aled hummed suggestively and hooked his free hand behind Jamie’s neck, tugging him close for a dominant kiss.

Jamie’s heart skipped a beat before racing. The tingles of an impending scene began to bubble through him, making his cock twitch with interest. He didn’t know how Aled felt about having sex with his sister in the house, but he was ready to do just about anything for him or with him.

But when Aled ended their kiss and let Jamie go, his expression had crumpled into something forlorn and stressed.

“I think we could have something,” he said, shifting to the side and prompting Jamie to step back to the other counter. “But there are some things you should probably know before you decide if you want this to be more than just a sexy fling.”

Jamie’s heart continued to pound, but for entirely different reasons. They were sailing into even more intimate territory than any kink weekend could provide.

“I’m listening,” he said, taking up his wine glass again so that Aled didn’t feel too pressured or on the spot.

Aled rolled his wine glass between his fingers for a moment, staring at an empty spot on the floor in front of him. Then he glanced up at Jamie.

“My father murdered my mother then killed himself,” he said. “Violently. He stabbed her fifty-seven times before severing his femoral arteries so they could die together.”

Jamie had just taken a sip of his wine and nearly choked on it. “God, I’m so sorry,” he said. He wanted to move closer to Aled, but he felt as though Aled needed the moment to tell his story.

Aled drew in a brave, shuddering breath, then went on. “He did it in the afternoon. I was the first one home from school that day and I…I found them.” He gulped as though he might be sick.

Jamie was horrified on Aled’s behalf, but all he could do was shift a little closer to him.

Aled continued. “I called the police at once, but Dawn arrived home before they did. I explained what happened and tried everything I could to keep her from going into the house, but she got far enough to see the blood all over everything.”

Jamie nodded slowly. That was more than enough to cause the problems that Dawn dealt with now.
