My eyes trailed back to the group, my body freezing when the yellow-masked man started to look around.

“I never wanted to—”

“Shh,” I hissed and pulled her through the rides, my heart racing.

They didn’t see. You’re okay. Get to the weapons. You’ll be safe—

Cheers from the group rang out. It was the only warning I had that they’d seen us.Fuck.

I picked up the pace, my grip on Jenna’s wrist tightening. She could barely keep up. She was going to get us fucking killed.

If I was alone, I could have one shotted it to the games, but now that I had her to take care of, I had to think of a—yes!

The rickety haunted house came into view, and I couldn’t help but send a quick thank you to the heavens for the perfect opportunity.

I wanted to stay out of attractions as much as possible so I wouldn’t get trapped, but I had no choice, I had to find somewhere to hide.

What better than a darkened, haunted house? There had to be a nook that I could shove us into to wait out this shit show at least long enough for our pursuers to lose interest.

I pulled us toward it, the sound of the purple-masked Seeker following behind us.

I made sure to dodge all the animatronics as they jumped out at us. Jenna let out a few screams but stopped when we got deep enough that the noise from the outside fell away.

Though her sobs and sniffles weren’t a much better alternative.

I pulled us as far into the house as I could manage before letting her collapse to the ground.

“We have to keep going, Jenna,” I said, trying to whisper. The last thing I wanted was for that purple-masked maniac to find us. “You can’t just tap out. Theywillkill you.”

I looked off to the side and behind Jenna. The path continued making me believe that there was an exit out back. We needed to get out there fast before we were trapped—if it was me I’d have my pack coming from both sides.

“Ican’t,” she sobbed, louder than I would have liked. “You’re cut out for this, but me? I won’t make it out alive.”

“Jenna, just listen to me. Get the fuck up, and I can help you–”

A crash in the next room sent my head snapping around.

My heart stopped in my chest, my blood freezing as I caught sight of the damned Seeker that wouldn’t leave us the fuckalone.

They’d been all but silent as they snuck up on us, nothing like their friends that I could hear bumbling through the ride beyond.

They lifted the weapon, aiming directly at Jenna.

“Move!” I screamed and shoved my friend to the side.

No.I hadn’t reacted fast enough. The Seeker’s weapon slammed into Jenna’s shoulder causing a pained cry to come from her lips.

My body reacted on its own. My feet dragging me away from Jenna and the Seeker, I needed to get out of range. I could barely make out Jenna’s raised hand in the strobing lights as she pleaded for her life.

Jenna tried to get on her hands and knees, but with one kick, the Seeker sent her sprawling across the floor.

“Let her go!” I yelled.

They turned to me, just enough of a distraction for Jenna to get onto her hands and knees.

“Don’t be so impatient,” they tsked. The sound of their voice so close caused the hair to rise on the back of my neck. “I’ll deal with you in a second.”

A blue-masked man came in, two more following him close behind.
