My jaw drops open. “You guys can communicate with one another through your mind?”

“Yeah.” Blaine puts his hand on my lower back, leading me toward the exit. “Not all wolves can. Usually, it’s only family. For some reason, Parker, Blaine, and I can communicate with one another, even in our human forms.”

“I knew it! Parker said he had enough voices in his head.”

Blaine snickers. “Well, remember I said families… he has us and his family.” Blaine shakes his head. “All six of his siblings. When Lucy first learned to mind link, Parker nearly failed all his classes.”

“Speaking of classes, will I be in trouble for ditching?” I worry my bottom lip between my teeth, glancing over at Blaine.

“No. Don’t tell Parker, but I compelled administration to believe we have an excused absence.”

I furrow my brows. “Uh, compelled them?”

“It’s something supernaturals can do to humans,” Blaine explains. “You probably can too. But we usually only do it if it’s an emergency, like if we accidentally reveal ourselves to humans or something. Parker doesn’t like using compulsion, but I figured today was an emergency.”

I swallow hard. “I keep forgetting that I’m not human.”

He smirks. “You can’t tell me that you ever thought you were human. One look in the mirror and you’d have to know.”

“What do you mean?” I ask. “I look human.”

“No. You don’t, Vixen.” He shakes his head. “You have impossible green eyes that almost glow, I bet they do glow in the dark. And your skin is radiant—perfect and flawless. No human looks like you. Don’t let it go to your head, but you’re really pretty.”

My cheeks grow warm. “You’re just saying that because you like to flirt.”

“I’m not.” His blue eyes meet mine. “Why do you think I call you Vixen? And why do you think Will hates you so much? If you were ugly, it would solve a lot of problems.”

Now I know he’s joking.

I allow him to lead me into the parking lot of the school again. We don’t head inside though. Instead, he leads me toward his car parked at the edge of the lot. Will is standing there, waiting for us. He shoots a glare at me when he sees me.

I glance at Blaine and he winks. “Told you.”

I roll my eyes at him.

“What did you tell her?” Will asks.

Blaine opens the back door for me. “That the reason you hate her so much is because you’re attracted to her.”

I get in before Will responds. But even with the door shut, I can hear Will yelling at Blaine. I really don’t think it’s true. Will isn’t attracted to me—he can barely stand me.

A few seconds later, Will and Blaine get in.

Will turns to look at me.

I hold up a hand to stop him. “I know—Blaine only said that to make me feel better. It’s okay. I know you think I’m ugly.”

Will rolls his eyes. “That’s such a girl thing to say. I never said you were ugly. I just…” his voice trails off.

“You’re waiting on the other half of your soul—I get it. I don’t know if I have a soulmate out there, but it would be pretty cool if I did.”

Will smiles at me. “Most supernaturals do. It wouldn’t surprise me if you had a mate.”

Blaine’s eyes meet mine in the rearview mirror. “Look at us, all getting along.”

Will punches him in the arm. “Way to ruin it.”

“Ouch.” Blaine rubs his arm before starting the car.
