Stop smiling. Especially at me. It’s weird.

His note only makes me smile wider.

You like me.

He snatches the paper back and dramatically rolls his eyes as he reads it. He writes back, passing it to me.

I tolerate you on Parker’s behalf. There’s a difference.

I write back,The line between love and hate is pretty thin. Don’t worry, though. I’ll keep it a secret.

He grabs the paper and glares at me. A few moments later, he puts the paper back on my desk.

Being around you gives me a headache.

I bite my lower lip to keep from grinning.Making fun of you distracts me from having a headache. Thank you for that.

I try to pay attention, but a few moments later the paper falls onto my desk again.

I’m glad I can help. But we’re still not friends.

I glance over at Will and see a smirk playing on his lips.

Not friends? Yeah, right.

Keep telling yourself that, I write back.By the way, the blonde girl at the front has a major crush on you. She keeps imagining what her first kiss with you would be like.

When he grabs the paper, he reads it, wrinkles his nose, and then wads up the paper dramatically.

I wonder if that girl would still have a crush on him if she knew how grumpy he is.

Will narrows his eyes at me, so I make a kissy face back. His face turns red as he turns to look at the teacher. I have to hold back my laughter.

Messing with Will Lancaster might just be my new favorite pastime.

When class is over, I’m not surprised to see Parker waiting for me outside the classroom. I am surprised when Will paces beside us. He usually can’t wait to get away from me.

“Your girlfriend is annoying,” Will says to Parker.

My cheeks grow warm.

Parker looks at me, raising an eyebrow, then turns to Will. “What happened?”

Will presses his lips firmly together, not answering.

I grin. “I merely pointed out a girl who has a crush on him. Honestly, I’m the one who had to put up with her thinking about kissing Will through class. I should be the one annoyed.”

Will glares at me, then looks at Parker. “I might have to change my schedule back to the way it was. I don’t think I can put up with her.”

We get to my next class. Surprisingly, Will walks inside. I knew they changed their schedules for me, but two classes in a row with Will is going to be interesting.

Parker stops me outside of the class. “Will likes you.”

I snort. “If that’s Will liking somebody, I’d hate to see how he treats an enemy.”

He grins. “Trust me, he does. But I’ve got to get to class. I’m glad Will is here to look out for you.”

I want to argue that I’m fine without Will being there but now isn’t the time. “I’ll see you later.”
