Trying to catch my breath with burning eyes, throat, and skin on fire, I crawl towards the damp grass. But it doesn’t take Gabriel long to get bored of my stupid efforts.

“Do your worst, Priest,” I taunt, coughing my lungs out. “Whatever you have planned, I’ve had worse.”

The grin on his face sends a shot of fear straight to my heart, and I have a feeling that he’s not going to make my death an easy one.

“Oh, little lamb, you have no fucking idea who you’re dealing with. I’m going to take my time with you, and when I’m done, you’ll be begging me for your death.”

With those lines, I knew my life was no longer mine; that Gabriel would enjoy every bit of torture he would inflict on my body.

He bares his fangs, then bites at his wrist and shoves it in my mouth. I can taste his blood as it slips down my throat and a horrifying feeling crashes over me.

“Can’t have you awake and knowing where we’re going, can I?” he says, then throws me over his shoulders and stomps out of the churchyard.

I don’t even have the strength to fight him or to ask where Xenia is because as soon as he puts me in the trunk of his SUV, everything fades to black.

The scent of dust, dampness, and neglect burns my nose, and when I open my eyes, I find myself on a cold marble floor in complete darkness. I stumble to my feet in a daze, wondering where the fuck I am and how long I’ve been out for.

I feel the cold, damp walls and walk with my hands out in front of me until, feeling brave, I step ahead, but then I bump into the corner of something sharp, and pain shoots up my side.

“Fuck,” I grumble and cough, willing my eyes to adjust to the darkness, but I can’t make out anything.

No outline of a wall, a window, a door… nothing. I wrack my brains to figure out where the hell I could be, but just as I come up empty, Gabriel Priest’s crimson eyes come into view in my mind’s eye.

My hand goes to my ears, and to my dismay, I find that my earrings are missing. Fuck, he must have figured out that it’s a tracking device, and the thought alone causes my knees to buckle, and I fall to the floor, nearly hyperventilating.

No one knows where I am; I’m going to die here.

“Hmm, the anxiety on you gets my cock hard as steel,” Gabriel’s voice comes from right in front of me, and I scream before crawling backward. He chuckles, and I hear boots shuffling before he shines a flashlight towards the ceiling.

“Miss me, little lamb?” he taunts, with that fucking shit-eating grin on his face.

“Where am I?” I ask for the second time today, and a cold shiver runs up my spine when I realize that I actually didn’t want to know. Now that he’s lit up the place, I can see high arching ceilings, similar to a mausoleum, and ten marble slabs in front of me.

I think I know what’s on the marble slabs, but I dare not look.

He walks towards me and gets down on his haunches, pinning me with a stare that causes goosebumps to pucker all over my skin.

“Preutescu tomb; I think it’s a fitting place to keep you as a prisoner since your family is the reason all of them are here,” he says, throwing the flashlight in my direction.

“Where’s Xenia?”

He snickers. “Do you really have time to worry about others when you’re in this predicament?” He asks, crossing his arms.

My hands are shaking so much that it looks like a rave down here. I swallow hard, then shake my head.

“So not only do you rape me, but now you’re holding me prisoner for something I didn’t do?”

He tuts. “Rape you? Sweet girl, being close to you makes me want to rip your throat out; why would I even want to touch you that way?” he says, chuckling. “You disgust me.”

“That’s rich coming from a monster like you. I swear to fucking God, Priest, when I get out —”

“IFyou get out,” he says, walking towards me. I’m pinned up against the wall now when he gets on his haunches again and tilts my chin to face him. Those warm, clear blue eyes from this morning are gone, and in their place stood the eyes of a murderer.

“I never touched you last night; I wanted to mindfuck you just to see how you would react when you wake up next to the man you so despise. You’re not my type, little lamb. I don’t fuck humans.” He says in a low voice full of disgust, and the flashlight drops next to my thigh, the clatter reverberating through what I know now, is a tomb.

My heart is pounding in my ears, and I keep myself calm, not blinking even if his proximity is killing me slowly.
