“I’m sending Xenia and Church there to keep an eye on her. She’ll know that I’m aware of her hiding place, but at least she’ll see that I care. Besides, I don’t even fucking know how she’s been feeding herself all this time since she hates feeding directly from humans.” Gabriel says, lacing his fingers together on the desk in front of him.

I have to admit that it’s funny to see him act like a mother hen and yet not being able to do anything about it. But at least we know Kat is safe; there’s no place safer than the Vegas nest after Death's Temple has been eliminated.

“Did Xenia and Church agree to this?”

He rolls his eyes. “I was originally only going to send Xenia, but Church fucking insisted he go along.” He grumbles. “He’s not letting that hellcat out of his sight since what went down with the council, but he also hasn’t claimed her, which frustrates the fuck out of me.”

I openly laugh at his description of our brother, knowing he’s fully whipped for that little thing, but refusing to admit it to himself. It’s quite funny to watch Xenia give him shit and knowing there’s nothing he can do about it.

“Ha, I have a feeling that the estate will bring a lot of memories back for both of them. They’ll come back here Entwined, wait and see.” The moment I say this, something flickers in Gabriel’s eyes and he sits back.

I think I might have just given him an idea.

Chuckling, I get to my feet. “I’ll leave you to think more about it since it looks like the wheels are already spinning in your head,” I say, but he simply nods while I walk out, seemingly deep in thought.

I sigh and look at the time before heading out to my Harley.

To say that Autumn Hayes hasn’t been on my mind these past few weeks is a lie - thoughts of her sneak into my head when they shouldn’t be. I dream about her under me, her lips on mine as I drive deeply into her, claiming her as mine.

Fuck, the mere thought of it gets my cock hard, and, for some reason, I find myself at her clinic again. It’s after 9 pm but I can see her office light is still on; hard at work as usual. I sigh and decide to leave when I hear a crash and see a man walking out of the clinic and go over to Autumn’s Mini Cooper.

He looks at his fists and wipes them on his jeans before getting in the car and speeding away. I realized too late that his fists were crimson and that what he was wiping off was blood.

My heart drops right into my fucking knees and I rush into the clinic, finding it a mess and smelling fresh blood and fear. I make my way into her office and listen to her erratic heartbeat, shoving the door open and my gaze lands on a tiny figure crouched in the corner.

“P-please… I gave you what I have…” she murmurs, covering her face.

“Autumn?” her heartbeat quickens at the sound of my voice and when she looks up, I feel something similar to a fist constricting around my dead heart.

I draw a breath through clenched teeth, my hands balling to fists to stop the trembling at seeing this pure, gentle woman crouching in fear.

Never in my life have I felt as much rage as I do now, knowing that this is what she’s had to deal with all this time. I understand now when people say they see red because I want nothing but to rip that man in two!

Breathing in a sigh, I walk over to her and get down on my knees in front of her, tilting her chin so she can face me. Her eyes are bloodshot, one of them is swollen and has the whites turned a dark purple, her lip is split open and she has a faded bruise on the side of her head.

Anyone who touches a pure soul deserves a drawn-out death.

“Valentine?” she whispers my name, and it's like ice against my burning rage. “W-what…”

“Did he do this to you?” I ask in a surprisingly calm voice concealing the pure rage bubbling in my chest. “Did your husband put his hands on you?”

She looks away and tries not to meet my gaze, pulling her face out of my grasp and wincing.

“It’s nothing… He just had a bit too much to drink... I-I’m fine…” she says while trying to get to her feet and cradling her right arm.

I pinch the bridge of my nose and exhale slowly, trying my best not to lash out right now. So I stand up and pull her up gently before taking her in my arms and walking over to the bed she had me in not too long ago.

After she’s seated, I get in between her legs and cup her face gently in my hands.

“I’m going to ask one more time and I want you to be honest with me; did your husband do this to you?”

She closes her eyes and tears stream down her face when she slowly nods. I swallow deep, containing the fury by a hair’s breadth. He destroyed something pure and put his hands on his wife in violence when he should have done so out of love and care.

He hurt this woman who does nothing but heal others and for that, he will die.

“Listen to me, angel; I’m going to offer you my blood so you can heal. Don’t worry, I’m not a Pureblood, so you won’t get knocked out.” I say, seeing the surprise in her beautiful eyes. “Then I am going to take you to our estate, where you’re going to rest until you feel well enough to come back here.”

She shakes her head and winces. “I c-can’t just leave! He’ll kill me—”
