“I never hooked up with him,” I explain and Nick’s shoulders relax as he lets out a sigh of relief.

“We went to elementary school together, before my family moved away. We were kinda friends, I guess, when we were like seven and eight.” I laugh thinking about it. That phone call from Nick’s phone was the first time Holt acknowledged that he knew me. “I honestly thought he forgot about me until that call.”

“Wait. Does that mean your name is really Lenora?” Nick glances at me with a big grin.

He’s found out my big secret. It’s not really a secret. I just don’t like it. If I didn’t think it would upset my mom, I would’ve changed it.

“I was hoping no one heard him! Yes.” I groan admitting defeat. “I hate it, but yes that’s my name.”

“It’s pretty. I like it.” Nick squeezes my hand and starts whispering “Lenora” over and over like he's practicing how to pronounce it.

“Stop!” I give him a playful slap on his arm. “I really prefer Lenny. Just forget you know it.”

“Alright, it’ll be our secret that I know my girlfriend's name.” He winks, and the world stops.

Wow.

I may never get used to Nick Miller calling me his girlfriend.

My world has come to a complete stop with that one word.

“Girlfriend, huh?” I tease and poke his side.

He squeezes my hand and entwines our fingers together.

“Yup. I'm claiming you as mine. No turning back now.” He shrugs. “You might as well update your status from Obsessive Stalker to official Girlfriend.”

He’s teasing with a big smirk on his face. I give him another good poke in his side, making him jump.

After dropping me off, Nick walks me to my door. He’s determined to be a gentleman even if we already did things that wouldn’t be considered gentlemanly. Like having sex in a car parked in a municipal parking lot.

“I really hope you had a good time tonight. I had a great time.” He looks uneasy.

“I had a great time too,” I assure him and stand on my toes to press a soft kiss on his lips.

Nick holds me in place deepening our kiss. It’s soft and romantic. Not at all frantic and needy like most of our kisses are. This one is meant to be savored. Our tongues peek out exploring each other, but not fully committing to the search.

“Why don’t you come up? You could spend the night.” I whisper while our lips still brush together.

I’m trying hard not to beg, but I really don’t want him to go.

Not yet.

I don’t want this night to end. If he walks away every bit of doubt is going to creep back in.

Is this even real?

He bites his lip before giving me another savoring soft kiss.

“I’m sorry I can’t tonight.” He groans into my mouth and gives me a soft peck before pulling away.

His face looks pained to turn me down.

“After all, it’s only our first date, and definitely not our last.” He winks.

I stay by my door, a little shocked and a lot disappointed.

Wasn’t he supposed to be the one begging to come in?
