“It’s pledge week. She’s with the other pledges in the lecture hall.” She whispers after looking back to make sure the door is closed.

“Ok, can you tell her Nick stopped by?” Hopefully, she only knows one Nick.

It doesn’t matter. The girl shakes her head no anyway.

“Sorry, I shouldn’t be talking to you.” She whispers again. “I’m under the Silencio charm.”

What the fuck?

This was a bad idea.

What the hell is she talking about?

“The… what now?” I ask, utterly confused about what is happening.

They are definitely in the middle of some weird pledging ritual.

The whole block is full of pledges going through whatever their house says. But I don’t understand what they’re doing here.

The door swings back open and the girl with the pink glasses comes out again.

“Why are you talking out here you filthy mudblood?” She says with a stick in her hand.

Did I hear that right?

“Ugh, you again.” She turns towards me. “Lenny isn’t here, now please stop harassing my pledges.”

I raise my hands in defeat and walk away.

“Ugh, muggles.” I hear her grumble behind me.

Yeah, definitely a bad idea. I just walked into some crazy Alpha Sigma Alpha hazing. I don’t even want to know what was going on.

When I get back to my house Greg and Luca inform me they were referencing Harry Potter.

I’ve seen the movies, like once, several years ago.

You’d think knowing that’s the kind of people Lenny hangs around with would scare me off, but nope. I was at first, but then I saw her at the gym the next morning. She looked perfectly normal. Not like the girl dressed in wizard gear that I was imagining all night.

I should’ve gone up to her at the gym, but she was in and out. I couldn’t find her after I did my reps and talked with our trainer.

Jerrick is alone at the front desk. I hate talking to Jerrick. I tolerate him because he lets us use the gym before opening and after closing some days, but he’s annoying. He always talks about the team as if he knows about hockey, but I don’t think this guy has ever stepped foot on the ice.

“Hey, is Lenny here?” I ask, before heading out hoping I haven’t missed her.

“No, she’s off today. I think she was in for a yoga class earlier but long gone now. Why? Is she helping you with homework or something?” He asks with a smug look on his face.

Asshole.

“Or something.” I nod and leave before he can say anything else.

I tried her house again tonight.

I’m greeted with more weird shit. A girl answers, aiming a suction arrow around. She puts it down when she sees it’s me at the door.

“Is Lenny here?” I nervously step back, afraid she might shoot me.

“She’s with the Tributes preparing.” She squints her eyes at me.
