I open her door, but stop before taking a step through the threshold to look over my shoulder at her. She hasn’t moved. Her arms remain crossed over her chest and I can see her brain going over every detail of last night.

Our date.

The connection we had was so easy.

Every kiss.

Each one felt like a piece of our souls were coming together to complete a puzzle.

Our bodies melting together to become one. My cock buried deep inside her, eliciting a rumbling orgasm to crack the ice in the arena from two miles away.

“It’s too bad. That kind of sex is going to be rough to get over.” Sighing, I give her one last look before running down the stairs.

I leave with a second glance at the house before hopping into my car. I swear she looks out her window on the second floor, but I’m not even sure which window is hers. That could have been anyone peeking out of their curtain.

With my phone plugged in to charge, I immediately get several messages and missed calls.

Willa:Where did you go? You disappeared.

Willa:How did you leave without being untied?

Willa:Am I too late?

Willa:ABORT LUCA! You’re paired with Kandi!

Willa:LUCA!! If I’m not too late, ABORT now! Kandi is your partner. ABORT, ABORT!!

Bang! Bang!

A pounding on my window makes my heart leap from my chest. Willa is standing at my door with her hands on her hips.

Slipping on my sunglasses to shield the bright sun, I turn down the window with a wide grin.

“Good morning.”

“Oh my god, what happened?” Her hands fall to her sides. “Why do you look so happy?”

I shrug, but she isn’t buying it.

She walks around the other side and climbs in. “Coffee and bagels, now. And tell me everything.”

“I need to brush my teeth first. Unless you want a whiff of the sweet smell of Kandi while I talk.” I make a show of breathing out and wafting the air into my face.

“That’s disgusting!” Willa gives my arm a good whack while I drive off towards the hockey house. “How mad is she?”

“Fucking pissed when she kicked me out of her room.”

The hockey house is only two blocks away. I ran in and out quickly, leaving Willa in the car to wait. It was early enough that the guys were sleeping or getting an early run in, and I got up to mine and Alex’s loft unseen.

Willa is anxiously waiting to pounce on me with questions when I come back.

“How did it even happen? Didn’t you take the blindfolds off? Did you give her a fake name?” She spitfires questions out before I even get my seatbelt on. “One minute you two were waddling from the kitchen and the next you were gone. When did you find out it was her?”

“Relax, leaving the blindfolds on and no names was her idea. In fact, going to her room was all her idea.” Willa’s shoulders relax while I drive into town to our favorite bagel shop.

She found it her freshman year and showed me when we found each other. We were best friends in grade school on the same coed hockey team until my family moved to Seattle when I was fourteen. We lost touch for a bit, but with luck, we ended up at the same school again. Willa’s a senior now, a year older than me, and plays defense for our women’s hockey team.

“You really had no idea it was her?” She asks after a bout of silence.
