“Thanks, guys.” Aunt Sloane squeezes both my and Mom’s arm.

“You got this. The wedding is going to be great,” I say.

“It’s like a reunion,” Uncle Oli chimes. “We get to invite all our old friends. Celebrate the night away. It’s going to be special.”

Uncle Oli places his arm around Aunt Sloane’s shoulders.

I leave the room as Uncle Oli’s words sink in. They are planning a big wedding in Chicago. They are inviting old friends. Dread seeps into my pores as I realize what that means. Dad and Oli have stayed in touch with their old teammates. Dad has gone to a number of weddings for teammates whose children have tied the knot. That means Andrew will be there. Shit! I hoped I would never have to see him again. I’ve googled him. I don’t think he ever got married. I can’t show up to the wedding by myself. I need a buffer.

I quickly run upstairs to grab the eye makeup remover wipe for Aunt Sloane and some mascara. Then I head back down to give it to her.

I see Quinn on my way down the stairs. “This is a shit show, but Evan is really cute,” she murmurs without moving her lips.

“Give me one sec.” I walk past her and head toward the kitchen. Aunt Sloane’s mood seems to have improved.

“Amy doesn’t like our family, but this will be fine,” she says rolling her shoulders.

I head back out to Quinn. Connor and his daughter were supposed to join us for dinner, but they went to Wolfe’s instead. Wolfe decided he was staying home for the holiday instead of going out to his friends’ in Philly.

Now I’m kind of grateful there aren’t extra players here to witness our family drama.

Quinn is sitting beside Hunter on the couch. Hunter is FaceTiming his girlfriend, Amy. He looks so happy as he tells Amy he told his family about their upcoming nuptials and that they were happy and excited. Amy sounds relieved and tells him she loves him. It’s all very sweet.

“I also told Dad we want a big wedding,” Hunter tells her.

She falls quiet for a moment but then she cheers. Quinn looks back at me and rolls her eyes. Kevin comes up to us too.

“Congrats,” he says to Hunter, fist bumping him.

“Thanks,” Hunter acknowledges and then he looks at Amy. “You should meet my cousin, Kevin Sanders,” he says to her.

“Holy shit. The Kevin Sanders,” Amy replies.

Quinn gives me a look that says something along the lines ofI told you.

My stomach sinks as this Amy gets stars in her eyes over my brother. Kevin plays it cool and talks to her like he would a fan.

“Pleasure to meet you, Amy. Welcome to the family,” he says and Amy’s eyes gleam.

I check on Evan who is busy with Liam and Skylar. I apologize for the family drama.

“At least you have a family to have drama with,” Sky responds.

“Seriously,” Evan chimes and my stomach sinks. I know he doesn’t have much of a relationship with his mother and his father is pretty much AWOL.

“I’ll be back in a sec,” I state as Quinn pulls me away.

Skylar waves me off.

Quinn walks me over to the restroom.

“Are you kidding me?” I ask her.

“It’s big enough in there and it’s private,” she snaps. Then she waves me inside. It is large for a bathroom but still, we aren’t ten.

I sigh, roll my eyes, and indulge her.

“What?” I ask.
